The Labour Government

There is nothing positive, unless you are bone idle and in the country illegally. You keep telling yourself that all is good.
Hotels closed, deportations up, deal with France, France agreeing to intercept, taxi rides banned, new none hotel sites coming online, and very restrictive new rules on settled status asylum and access to benefits etc.

Did Reeves even say income tax would go up ? No. Tax rises I guess so but could have meant freezing rates. Maybe they had last minute ideas on how to change the budget from income tax up to new taxes mansion tax, EVs, Freezing rates etc ?
No, and I think that was my point. Rightly, the government have stated that they would neither confirm or deny any rumours on the budget and would not get into ‘tittle-tattle’.

Overall, I see no issues with the budget and it will take us all to turn this ship around. I get that we all have to pay a little more and me more than some, less than others. Just something I think we have to accept after the last couple of decades of economic destabilisation due to a number of world and UK events.

The UK ranks as one of the bottom of the advanced OECD countries when it comes to benefits.
Having a safety net for less fortunate is usually seen as the sign of an advanced civilisation.

It’s because of years of right wing media propaganda that the poor are seen as the ones to blame for all societies woes. It’s a distraction, we are a very wealthy country, we just need the rich to pay their way.

Well, I’m obviously not as clever as you. But, I don’t mind, I’m not the one running the country.

As for the plan, I’m still to see the what the overarching one is. Be helpful if you gave us all a heads-up instead of just throwing glib quips at people. Brings nothing to the debate.

The plan seems to be based on gaslighting the public and basically telling lies so they can offer what is nothing more than a political bribe to their own backbenchers in the hope it saves their own arses.

Some call it out, others applaud it like sea lions at the circus.

That’s some expert critique on what is going on in this country, I’ll take it onboard.

Thank you for calling whatever you said, out.

You’re happy with Reeves deliberately lying to the media then, stating that investment would need to be significantly reduced without tax rises?

A straight up lie and you’re making excuses for it.

Step away from the migrant bollox. Yes, it costs, but there is far more to do to ensure our future children have some form of social contract and not paying for our failures.

Defence, NHS, education, national debt, it all needs sorting.
It may be far more to do with how we pay for the really open-ended bit of "benefits" - how long we're all living. I've used it before but...

The NHS is in crisis. Why? Because we're all living so long. Why are we living so long? Because of the NHS.

The rhetoric has gone from she’ll be lucky to last the week to she should be fired immediately.

Social media experts. They really do know best,
Why should Reeves be fired? She put a budget together, delivered it without any problems for the markets and made no incendiary moves that could spook the majority of people.

In fact, it was quite benign and the only people that are shouting are those who are supposed to.

Although, watching the news for 10 minutes, I now see that it’s the publicans who are now complaining.

I’m not the one advocating absolutely waffle based on a very skewed perspective.

There’s little point debating with them. This is a safe space for them to say the same things over and over again to garner 3 likes of their clique.

We’ve had a month of inflamed rhetoric on the budget based on vibes. There was then a 36 hour hiatus as the new attack line was drawn.

Shout too much and people stop listening.

I’m not making excuses, where did she lie?

Do you know the plan for investment and the costs involved?

We’re at a point where our public services need investment, and turn around the austerity and mismanagement of public services. That costs, and although you personally don’t want to support these measures, I do. I want to see public services support the next generations, giving them a decent start in life, covering their educational needs, supporting them where needed throughout life, and giving them dignity in their later years.

I see that as fundamental to a decent society, and without it, you get where we were only a couple of years back.

The ones complaining the loudest are the ones who’ve done the most damage especially with Brexit, that alone costs us £90,000,000,000 a year in lost tax revenue. Put that on the side of your bus!

To be fair, I’ve stopped listening as it’s become quite clear that it’s not about the country, it’s now just about who can shout the loudest on their specific issue.

Easier to drive past many of the arguments as they have no substance, just bluster for the sake of it.

They're cracking down on jack shit, only thing they are good at is pulling the wool over the eyes of gullible halfwits and extorting money from hard working people and giving it to the bone idle and those that have no place to be here.
The need to crack down on something would mean that someone else had allowed this situation to arise in the first place . I imagine that your anger and ire has previously been aimed fairly and squarely at the previous government?

That’s a hell of a lot of money.

Personally, I was over Brexit when the result was confirmed. We can debate the pro’s and con’s of how it was implemented or what the benefits are, but once it was decided, we had to get used to the fall-out. The immediate thing for me was many of our friends in Europe asking how I could do such a thing, which I had to explain the ‘Not I, but we’.

Exactly. There’s no plan, just stopping as much as possible.

“stop foreign aid, feed our own.”

2 child cap removed. “Not those though. It’s the 500 homeless veterans that should get it.”

“Not those veterans though who are hooked on drugs.”

Etc.

Like many, I don’t mind reasoned debate as it’s usually based on what we actually know rather than on wild opinion or, in some cases, mis or disinformation. That’s where you have to question the logic of your own response as one is only feeding further speculation and falsehoods as the position will no doubt be defended.

I now find it easier, and much better for your mental health, to drive past these would be encounters and allow others to look at what has been posited and make their mind up about who/what that person is.
