The tories are currently left holding a bomb in terms of this and Brexit, rather than heroics Starmer probably just needs to take cover and wait for it to explode. Unless the govt pull off some sort of minor economic miracle between now and next easter I think they are done. Once you strip a tory govt of the cloak of sound financial management you are not left with much else.
bless.Starmer could probably do a lot worse than just keep his head down. In about a years time with the political and economic effects of covid and brexit combining I think he may be in a decent position to table a confidence vote, get a GE, and turn the tory majority round.

Maybe not, but as they are not the ones in power it hardly matters. As we get further and further away from it the tory go to excuse of blaming any economic woes on the last labour govt becomes a bigger and bigger lie. However it is a cloak that The Labour Party have never worn and probably never will.
It was frustration with that sort of bollocks that led to the hard left taking over. The leadership contest debates when corbyn won were a joke.
