The Labour Party

I think the gaudian has done enough tbf with it's 3 years of negative corbyn stories, and being a mputhpiece for watsons bollocks

Only today a special article on how people in blairs old constituency don't trust Corbyn. Blah blah

The Guardian is probably the worst of the lot as you sort of do not expect it from that.

I stopped buying The Observer last year because of its Guardianesque stance and I had read it every Sunday for 40 years
The really sad thing is that these stories are probably instigated by Watson or other opportunists in corbyns own party. They'd rather see labour decimated at a GE than win so they can advance their own careers. I'd rather they all just fucked off to change, the lib dems, or whatever party chukka is in next week.

Althoigh I have the app on my phone and read articles still, I gave up on it representing me politically in any way when it declared for the lib-dems in 2015, it was always a liberal paper but did lean left at times.
But since corbyn became leader it has been very anti-labour

It was never exactly the morning star or Socialist worker. It was a comfortably middle class paper for people who are full of social angst about the homeless and immigrants but would not really like any to move in next door.

I want a Labour Government in power. Unfortunately, Corbyn is very unlikely to be the man that takes them there. I think MPs recognise this and don’t want to go down with the sinking ship so try to distance themselves

If there was an election tomorrow, I’d be very surprised if Labour did enough to be the biggest party never mind get a majority - that said, there have been recent polls where the Leave voting constituencies in the North have shown no interest in voting Tory despite them being the Brexit Party in disguise so if those voters stick to Labour then maybe they will have enough. However what that poll didn’t show(or I didn’t see) was the actual voting intentions of those people, maybe they would vote for the BP, which I find bizarre but there you go

Actually the mainfesto played very well with the public, but when evry day since becoming the leader, you have party MPs who are more ideolgically atuned to liberal rather than socialist or social democratic ideas and the while media including those you would expect some balance from run a negative campaign against you then some in the country will have a negative opinion.

Imagine if corbyn had been given the lack of scrutiny cameron, may and johnson have had over the last 3 years, or given the free reign farage has had to shape public opinion without challenge.

It may have played well with some people in the general public but not enough, not by a long way

Also, I think it’s fair to May and Johnson have had an awful lot of scrutiny. But let’s say you’re right - he should then be on tv and radio on a regular basis explained, in depth, what’s what. But he doesn’t, he does a few Trump-esque rallies and leaves it at that

I find him lazy and not particularly bright.

I'm more inclined to think it's coming from Russia, as did Trump and as did Brexit.
Putin's masterplan being to destroy/break USA and the EU.
Getting Johnson elected (not re-elected) being the most likely way for that to happen.
Likes, shares and re-tweets of the Corbyn story will help the next Cambridge Analytica identify targets for more propaganda.

Ffs, anything but admit voters just preferred trump and brexit to the other options. This sort of conceit and refusal to face facts is why trump and brexit happen. Not aimed at you btw mate, just the general situation.

The never ending tale of blame every fucker but themselves continues unabated.

Yep pointless blaming the russians as it's a flimsy excuse.

Decades of neglect of many people has seen populist rise everywhere, when people are offered nowt but the same shite, someine different with a promise of more people power and chnge will be popular.
Trump and vote leave did that, so people voted for them, don't blame russia, blame the fuckwits that have mismanaged the country and pushed people to vote for something else.

Do they still prefer it, though? Brexit and Trump were both easy answers to complex questions and both are failing miserably

Tbh I see what people see as a surge in populism and lurch to the extremes of left and right as a natural reaction to the Blair/Brown era of 10 years ago when we were all moaning that our three main parties were all slightly right of centre with no discernible difference to choose from. IIRC the trope of the time was that we were effectively becoming a single party state and the lib dems no longer had clear centre ground to call their own. At least Corbyn is actually left wing and Boris is to the right. Sadly the lib dems are massive fannies so don't realise they have a centre ground to call their own now. Instead they have become a single issue party, and a sort of refuge for the tory-lite of the other two parties.

Is there an argument that for a country to be successful that some people *need* to be left behind? A country cannot improve the lot of every but if most are ok and not concentrating on the bad stuff than it’s a price worth paying?

I don’t necessarily agree with my statement nor do I expect anyone politician to actually come out with it, sugar coated or otherwise. It’s just a thought with came into my head

How many educated and skilled people are ‘left behind’? I don’t know but maybe as a population if we took education and skills more seriously the population could improve its own lot rather than pointing at the EU, single mothers, immigrants, Hilary and her emails etc - you get where I’m going with this? The politicians/establishment would rather we argue amongst ourselves than have an educated population which asks questions rather than look for scapegoats and quick fixes

Rees-Mogg and the like couldn’t give a monkey’s about the populations A-Level results as long as his college is producing the next PM, CEO of X company, the next great poet etc. How many educated people does a country actually need to function? Not many

Treat the population like mushrooms - keep them in the dark and feed them shit

I'm pretty sure that's a pillar of Conservatism - 80/20 split, meaning so long as 80% of the population are on the up the 20% getting left behind is acceptable, with the door open to the 20% break into the 80% by sheer hard graft and talent (opportunity). Left wing nut jobs like myself think a civilised society would sacrifice a bit of wealth to ensure the 20% are not left behind.

As a CLP member my piss is boiling.

The NEC decided to suspend candidate selection in my area. We are concerned that it's because a GE coming up and once again they will parachute someone in who doesn't know, or understand the issues in our constituency.

This shit from Blair and Brown we thought was over. Now were beginning to think again.

So he's going to sit on the fence re Brexit, even within.his own party & advocate fuck all, so he can be on the side of whoever wins the argument ?

Like his position on nuclear war: "I don't want nukes but.....well if people insist we continue to buy them then we can buy the weapons but I'm not saying if I will use them if attacked......but of course if the committie decides to use them....or perhaps if there is a referendum..."
