Every working class man and woman should agree with this.

Here’s a quote from the original Clause IV:

"To secure for the workers by hand or by brain the full fruits of their industry and the most equitable distribution thereof that may be possible upon the basis of the common ownership of the means of production, distribution and exchange, and the best obtainable system of popular administration and control of each industry or service."

Its he bedrock of a humane society that every working man gets the full fruit of his labour, after all for a working man it is all he has to sell.

Good policy, if the richest have to send their offspring to the same schools as the working class, they will be funded properly because the richest will demand it and every kid will benefit rather than the monied elite.

The envy in the UK is the envy of the rich thinking the poor might have a chance of becoming rich. If they eradicate that chance they stay as the elite.

I think Karl had it about right, not a good thing

I would describe myself as left-wing but my daughter would be off to private schools in a flash if I could afford it and get a place

Small class sizes, a more motivated pupil and it seems they promote presentation skills and confidence/entitlement.

No one in the well off working class or affluent middle-class will vote for this because people would like to send their kids to PS if possible

Labour need to concentrate on getting in power where they can make some real changes rather than gimmicks

Spot on I send my son to a private school, I am amazed it isn’t bentleys and rolls Royce’s ,it’s hardworking parents making sacrifices to spend their spare cash on something worthwhile their kids education.

But at the moment I pay for my son to school ( just a private day school in Manchester, it’s not eton ) , but if Jeremy wants to pay to educate my son and everyone else’s kid as well then fine if he has the money. That extra money I have I will spunk on a Rolex and a flash car seems much better for society

I was reading a brilliant article on social housing policy in Vienna, yeah geekish I know, but they are big into social housing. That is what is needed to reduce envy. The Socialist dream of Nye Bevin was to have housing on the same street that would appeal as much to doctors as it would to labourers. he said "the working man, the doctor, the clergy, will all live in close proximity"

From that time until Thatcher it was a possibility, Butskelism was the order of the day. Now we have sink estates and the left behind, that is the origin of envy. The need for those with to see those without struggle so they can stay with.
