The Lack of English Players

As some have mentioned above, I too have ALWAYS been more concerned about City than England, & I go back to the days when a team last won the league with 11 English players, which was of course City.

At the time, I didn't give a fuck that we had 11 English players, & I don't give a fuck if we have no English players now.

I would like England to do well in the World Cup, but if City's academy produce 11 players good enough to do that in the future NO WAY WILL YOU FUCKING SOUTHERN BIASED, RAG SCOUSE LICKING WANKERS ALLOW AN ENGLAND MANAGER TO PICK THEM ALL ANYWAY.

So in short Ian Wright & everyone who thinks like you do, all of you can just basically fuck off.

Not bothered.
Inter Milan were doing the same in their heyday.
Their name is "International" though. We're "Manchester" City and for me i'd like to see some Mancunians playing in our shirt on the pitch in front of us fans.

Not arsed one bit about the current England team in terms of none of them playing for us as almost all of them aren't good enough to get in our's, Juve's. Bayern's, Madrid's, Paris' or Barcelona's team (although as i've said in a previous post Lallana is a very good player and would be an excellent addition to our squad).

But i want some Mancs in the team. Someone to say "he's one of us" about.

It's one of just three things i want to change about our club. Pretty much everyting else outside three things i am loving! So it's not like i'm having a massive grumble or owt.

That would be nice but I hope you're not suggesting we sign Welbeck! Seriously, are there any top class Mancs playing in the Prem - players who could actually get a game for us now and then? Jagielka would be a useful squad player but that's about it as far as I can see.

That prize plum Ian Wright is at it again today in Murdoch's rag.

"City victory is no help to England" is the headline, followed by the usual dullard soundbites.

......What has their win done for English football? Next to nothing.

......Are City fans now so consumed with success that they are ready to see their club succeed at the expense of England's World Cup hopes?

......City's huge financial clout means they have the ingredients to become one of the world's greatest forces - all based on buying foreigners.

Apart from anything else it's such utter bullshit. No-one hold a gun to the heads of the English players at City to make them stay, and whilst they are at City at least they get to train against the world's best and watch and learn from Ya Ya, Kun and Spanish Dave. And there's plenty of opportunity for English players at other clubs if they can't make the grade at City. Every player will end up at their appropriate level eventually, and if there aren't any out there good enough for us, then so be it. I for one couldn't give a shit about England compared to City and that's the bottom line
I've never understood this "foreigners holding back the English national side", surely only the very best English players will make it to the top, so in fact this should help the England side ! the problem for me is , it's the same old players from the same hand full of clubs ie Liverpool, utd ,arsenal. (maybe not Arsenal, wasn't it them that put out the first full foreign side a couple of season ago ?) with the odd one from the "lesser" club getting "a" cap after being outstanding in the league, then being told he better sign for a big club, if he want's more !

Nope. As mentioned earlier, Liverpool won the 1986 FA Cup Final with a team consisting of zero Englishmen!

I understand it all too well mate - it is born of resentment and jealousy.
Mediocre players see all these nasty Johnny Foreigners coming over here with their fancy step-overs and their pinpoint passing, taking all our women and jobs with their good Latin looks and sheer ability.
'Twas ever thus - you used to get the old guard of chauvinistic white ex-players lamenting the days when you could walk down Dickenson Road and not see a black face, and the whole team was white.
And usually shite, but that didn't matter half as much as keeping up the sham that white was right.
Then black players started to appear in the game, and they became the new bogeyman, until they too were overtaken by the marauding foreign hordes.
In any other walk of life, a business employs the best folk for the job, regardless of colour, religion, birthplace or sexuality.
It's called the free market economy, or capitalism, to make it even more simple to the hard-of-thinking Little Englander.
Why should football be any different?

What's it done for English football? he asks, well it was a great advert for English football with a match I am sure that was enjoyed across the world What has it done for the England Team? is the question he should have asked The England Team whom last two managers have been foreign and plan to start adopting players who have qualified for residency! I would answer that for the current team nothing, but hopefully English kids will have been excited to have seen some of the best players in the world like Yaya and Nasri scoring wonderful goals and motivate them to want to do the same, and if they are lucky enough they might end up as part of the new MCFC Academy paid for by foreign money

Ian Wright's comments reek of bitterness. If he wants to be useful he should be aiming his criticisms towards the FA and football at grass roots level, not using City as an example of what is bad in English football. We are currently at the forefront of trying to change things, so ours is one of the last clubs that should be singled out.

I must admit that the one thing that bothers me slightly, is that I feel a bit humble that many of these world class players choose to play in the Premier League. I think it's great and we often hear that this is the best league in the world, but I do wonder if it will always remain this way. Looking at it purely from a player perspective, as a country we offer very little English talent in exchange for the wealth of talent we receive from European and World clubs. If I was from Spain or Germany I certainly would be questioning when England are eventually going to start pulling their weight.

I think Accrington Stanley put a full Scottish side out in the 60's (remember hearing that somewhere) but i was getting at Ian Wrights beloved Arsenal putting out a full none British side, yes in football it's England, Scotland, Wales & N.Ireland, but for him to have ago when his club was the first to play a full of none British players is a bit rich !

Which English players would have got into our team on Sunday?

Which English midfielder is better than Fernandinho, Silva, Nasri or Yaya? None.

Which English striker is better than Aguero? None.

Which English defender is better than Kompany, Zabaleta or Kolorov? None.

Why would we play English players who aren't good enough?

There is a case for Lescott starting (he should have), but apart from that no English player could have got into our team on Sunday. It's too good.

Couldn't give a fuck about the England National team. Players are generally picked for their (or their clubs) prestige anyway, with the odd exception.

Also, what is the problem with City having so many foreigners? I thought England/Britain was now a multi-racial, multi-cultural society? The country invites professionals from all over the world (as we should) to work in their field of expertise. How is this different to what City, and other clubs do?

It is not any clubs duty to 'safeguard' the national team.
