The Lack of English Players

Our friend nikolaiputin seems confused.
He tells us that modern life and modern football is great , sarcastically of course , but fails to spot that modernity which he seems to be having trouble with, means multi- national companies employing multi national work forces all over the world irrespective of race , creed , or colour. Sorry mate but that is the way of the world , in football or business - we're all getting past old fashioned political boundaries( you should try it - it's very mind broadening)
Touching respect for Italy though . I have been there on many occasions and I love the place , but to hold it up as a shining example of national pride is hilarious.
The rich northerners want nothing more than a split from what they see as the poor south leeching the country's wealth away ( indeed , a lot of them don't even see the south as "proper" Italy
They have some of the most corrupt politicians at all levels of government ( or " mafia" as some call it) appalling levels of racism, and just ask anyone who's been to Naples or Rome for an away match about how handy they are with a knife!
There is also a difference between running down a country , and running down the quality of its footballers ( or swimmers or accountants or whatever) , especially if you can do it constructively.
Still mr Farage would be proud of you.

Why is it that when someone exerts pride in being English, they get the BNP/EDL/Farange quips? When people say they are proud to be Irish/Scottish/Bosnian/Uruguayan/Argentinian, I doubt they get the same treatment, so why is it the English do get it? When you say "were all getting past political boundaries", I ask, are we? I know we self hating English are, where we would prefer our country to be full of foreigners, but I wonder where the political boundaries lie with America where patriotism is the foundation of everything they achieve. Do we get the FUCK THE BOSNIAN/ARGETINA/SPAIN national team whenever the topic of patriotism comes up? of course not, because that is not the way of the English. Support patriotism, unless its from your own country.

If you are happy with this attitude, then fair play to you, it is of course a free world, but I for one cannot stand it, and that doesn't make me a EDL supporter just because I feel that way, just like how any other country member doesn't have to be called a "racist" because they prefer their own country to operate in support of its own people.

Enjoy it the next time you have a problem with BT broadband and have to speak to someone who cant speak English just because it makes billionaire owners a bit more billionairish, or when your players act like they don't give a fuck in the next Manchester derby because they don't know what it means to the people in this country. After all, we have to be seen to "break down political boundaries", national pride is something to be ashamed of, not proud of.

Would love to have English players but other than Hart and Milner they just are not good enough.

Be honest, you don't have a clue what you're talking about, do you?

Not bothered.
Inter Milan were doing the same in their heyday.
Their name is "International" though. We're "Manchester" City and for me i'd like to see some Mancunians playing in our shirt on the pitch in front of us fans.

Not arsed one bit about the current England team in terms of none of them playing for us as almost all of them aren't good enough to get in our's, Juve's. Bayern's, Madrid's, Paris' or Barcelona's team (although as i've said in a previous post Lallana is a very good player and would be an excellent addition to our squad).

But i want some Mancs in the team. Someone to say "he's one of us" about.

It's one of just three things i want to change about our club. Pretty much everyting else outside three things i am loving! So it's not like i'm having a massive grumble or owt.

Have we not had this one a few times before? It is a fair point, but look back to the 90's and 00's; yoonited had lots of English talent in their team, when they were winning everything on the planet, however, with those very same players, England were winning absolutely rock all. It's down to the F.A. to improve things, but in the meantime, if someone should try telling you that City are to blame for the lack of English talent, you could counter with this one.

Liverpool won the 1986 FA Cup Final with a team made up of 4 Scots, 3 Irishmen, 1 Welshman, 1 Dane, 1 Australian and 1 Zimbabwean. They had 1 substitute (all you were allowed back then), an Englishman, but he wasn't brought on. So this isn't a new phenomenon, in fact it happened 28 years ago. Strange how peopel seem to simply gloss over that fact and use it the lack of Englishmen in our lineup as a stick to beat us with, anyone would think it's not really about the lack of Englishmen at all and there's some other factors involved........

Added to that, how many English players are there that would actually be good enough to play for City? Not many I'd wager. Plus, if we were to buy the likes of Luke Shaw then we wouldn't be praised for playing Englishmen, we'd be derided for "stealing" poor little Southampton's players (the media would, of course, skillfully ignore Arsenal's Southampton contingent or Walcott and the Ox). If people want us to be developing our own English players then I'd simply point them in the direction of our soon to be completed £100m training complex, which will undoubtedly be producing some of the countrt's finest talents for years to come. I'd also point out that we've made huge improvements over the last few years and it's entirely unrealistic to expect out youth development to have kept up to speed.

Talksport right now have a discussion between the Journalist Patrick Barclay and Stan Collymore about England's potential squad for Brazil. Right now they are on to the Forwards.

Just now, Barclay argued the case for Andy Carroll. They have now moved on to what can Danny Wellbeck do that Jay Rodriguez can't do.

England players who do have a modicum of talent - Milner, Barry and AJ were all dismissed around fifteen minutes ago.

Right now the standard of English players is really poor. Not however, as poor as the standards of sports journalism and punditry.

Can't we just get some top class foreign sports journalists?

She will do - Sara Carbonero

Haha, have you seen any of the derbies for the past 3 years? No danger of that at all.
