The Long Good Friday

Brilliant. Apparently brosnan and Hoskins weren't in the taxi at the same time either, brilliant music. Hoskins imagined in his head the story when they filmed the close up of his face, great realisation
Charlie from Casualty the real star.

Very good film with great performances all round just not Bob Hopkins. Helen Mirren (upper class moll), Eddie Constantine (Mafia hood), Dave King (ex-comic) corrupt police inspector and Charlie from Casualty all did well. Produced by George Harrison's Hand Made films. Apparently the level of violence didn't sit well with him.

Just starting on Flim 4 - Bob Hoskins at his brilliant best and a fascinating look at Docklands in London on the cusp on redevelopment
Ah gutted I missed this post and the showing. Hopefully it’ll be broadcast again soon, or via All4.

I always bracket it with Mona Lisa, Get Carter (of course, though set oop North) and to a lesser extent Layer Cake and The Crying Game, as top drawer in its genre.

Always makes me wince watching the scene when Errol is being interrogated by Harold. Brutal stuff and a truly fantastic film.

Errol was played by Paul Barber who is perhaps best known for playing Denzel in Only Fools and Horses.

It is a brilliant film, one I'm always happy to watxh again.

Great selection there, if you haven't seen it I'd recommend A Sense of Freedom as worth a watch.
