The Michael Oliver Penalty Thread

Clear as a fuckin' day in 'Apper'ray that PiGMOL refs are operating two distinct LotG, particularly in respect of handball. Unless someone has 'manufactured' the video before Jota smacks the ball in the net it rolls up the length of his arm. WhyTF was it not chalked off? Yet another example of variable reffing to suit the occasion! What utter fuckin' cheats!

They say the stats don’t lie. So let’s see how many penalties Michael Oliver gives this season to each team.

Starting with yesterday’s game.

EDIT AFTER CITY V LEICESTER

updated after Arsenal v West Ham

Liverpool 2 penalties (1 game).

Leeds 0 penalties (1 game)

Arsenal 0 penalties (1 game)

West Ham 0 penalties (1 game)

Leicester 3 penalties (1 game)

City 0 penalties (1 game)
Perhaps been asked but shouldn't the teams penalised be listed as well?

Well, if we're going to go through a rough period I'd rather it was this early in the season and not towards the business end.

We can only hope that come April/May (when we are lifting the Prem trophy!) we will look back at this period and recognise it for the minor setback we all hope it is.

They were all pens. We need to stop saying “imagine this” and creating a scenario to feel hard done by... that doesn’t even exist. We are a fucking boss team that have a few problems to solve but we are more than capable of doing so. We will solve those problems but we must solve them soon before we allow a gap to be created like last season. They will have a dip (no pun intended) where they the opposition score the chances that they should and/or the refs don’t give them the benefit of the doubt and I genuinely think they will struggle if they have that dip while a team is close to them. Last season they had no pressure because the league was over so early, so they had no pressure of dropping points cos it wouldn’t have made a big difference.

Have faith in the manager and the lads... we’ve played twice so far this season haha!
I have faith in the manager, but the system is corrupt. They seem to f*ck us over with impunity.

Not if it means playing catch up. The mindset of this team is weak atm. Peps and Rodris comments post match were alarming as well. More of that shite and top 4 will be the aim.

Sorry but they were all pens and they would have been pens if it would have been for us.

That’s very funny

Remember Rodri against Spurs in the 2-2 draw last season? Why didn’t the same ref give that one then? Has there been some change in the rules that means blatant holding wasn’t a penalty last season but this season a nudge in the back is?

Raz gets pushed over all the time and told to get up , sergio has his knee snapped by bird shit mouth that time , rodders body slamed ,daves trip not given , just the ones that come to mind, we have to ve decapitated nearly to get a pen , we got them AFTER the dippers had won the league which makes it looks fair

Oliver IMO is the go to guy for when results are needed for certain teams.

I can only presume those saying we would of got all three penalties on Sunday if we were in the same position as Leicester or those same penalties would of been given against certain teams in red at their home ground have never ever watched Oliver ref.

There is undoubtedly huge incompetence in many refs, VAR should correct those, but what we are seeing in ever increasing games is the incompetence being backed up by the technology which was created to stop such inconsistencies!

I have finally managed to watch the highlights. First pen is soft but it is just about although given that VAR overuled the penalty Brighton were given it goes into that category. Second one Vardy appeared to stick his leg in front of Garcia and then fell over - shades of Mane last season. Again referring to the Brighton overturned penalty we were told it was because the forward instigated the penalty. Strange how this one therefore wasn't also overturned. Third one and I must have watched this a dozen times, is because Maddison deliberately tripped himself up. I just cannot see any touch by Mendy that would have made him fall the way he did. Said at at the time when watching the game live and I still stand by it. What is VAR there for if it doesn't rule on decisions consistently.
