The most boring or random meeting of a City player

It was night out about 12 months ago and I saw Stevie Ireland in Revolution on Deansgate. It was the day he dropped his pants after scoring. He was a top bloke and chatted to him for ages, he had his mates over from Cork.

I went to buy him a drink but wouldn't let me, so he got the drinks in for me and my mates. Great lad.

my dads m8 got jamie polloks lucky undies afta an away were e got sent off. also wen i was younger the goat ran over afta a goal n picked me up.
i laid a shit ha ha

The Goat, Carphone Warehouse in Altrincham, he was getting a new phone, sales assistant (probably a rag) asked him his occupation for a form he was filling in, he said proffesional footballer, sales assistant said who for??.....at that stage I butted in and had a chat with him, asked him what was in his Greggs bags, pies ?, he said in his gentleman like manner....oh no Tuna sandwiches!...what gent he was!!...when he left the sales assistant still did not know they had been graced by a great man !

Gary Owen and the Goat in a Spanish restaurant the night of the last game at maine road. I had gone with my friend and her family, with one of the supporters branches from Spain , it is one of my most cherished memories. The other one was Neil Young at a book signing in the trafford centre. All mint , top blokes.

I met Paulo Wanchope in Sainsburys in Cheadle the morning after we got relegated at Ipswich. I was knackered from the trip back and was wandering around in a dazed fashion and saw him. He saw me wearing my City shirt, smiled briefly and darted off to another aisle. A few aisles later, I saw him buying bags and bags of crisps. Fearing he was going to get some stick for being relegated he was a bit sheepish but I was giving it "Paulo!!!! Nice one, pleased to meet you" He just smiled again and made a dash for the checkout!

Totally forgot, Brian Horton in a Chinese in Cheadle about four years ago, maybe a little more. I think he was manager at Macc at the time. He was with his wife and probably not too pleased about having a table of drunken louts next to him, but fair play to him he was chatty and smiling a lot. Still holds fond memories of the club I think.

He's ALWAYS going to City matches, he's practically a regular. Which is really good to see because he wasn't exactly one of our most glorious managers, but it's good when they come back.

Oh, just remembered one actually. I saw Paul Lake and his missus in B&Q Stockport about a year ago doing the usual umming, ahhing and bickering about what colour paint to get, looking confused and pensive staring at the colour charts and holding them back.

Hang on, I'm getting memories of a few more 'every day' meetings with City players (I have noticed previous posters are putting matchday ones, that's just cheating!)

Met Peter Barnes in Somerfield in Heaton Moor about 5 years back. We have met previously, so when I saw him he stopped and we exchanged pleasantries.

Gary Owen at Blackpool Plesure Beach. Again, we've met previously so we were just walking past each other, he said hello, I said hello back, we made a quick quip about something or other and carried on our way. My mate (red) took a few seconds to take it in and just went "....ha..haa...hang on, was that just Gary Owen?"

And Alex Williams filling up with petrol in Heaton Mersey. Andy Dibble in the sauna at David Lloyd in Cheadle.

I have a car valet business and do a bit of work round Wilmslow, I valet the owners car at a shop called Lenords regularly, he knows im a blue so tells me when the ex City players have been in (more for the mature gent Lenords) this one time i gos in to give him his keys back and Franny Lee walked out of the dressing room with a piar of fuc#in Rupert the bear pants on and says "what do you think" I didn't know what was goinng on, he was looking right at me then the guy who owns the place says "yeh there look great them Franny" Fuck me i was so close to saying they look OK before he spoke i would of looked a bigger tw#t than Franny did in them pants.

Another one was at the Blackburn game at the coms when we got beat 3.0, one of there players broke his leg so the game was stoped for ages and Samaras was warming up, I had my little lad with me so i shouted him over so i could get a picture of him with the boy and he did, although very reluctantly.

I also do Louis Molloys car the guy who tatoos Beckham, 2 or three week ago he told me he wont be around next week cos hes doing a tat for Beckham in London, so I told him to give him a dead arm and tell him that's for the free kick he scored at Main Rd.

i was in the tc with my m8s and bojinov walked passed i got a picture with him an he told me hes back 4 the 16th of feb hes a safe guy though

Oops, and another one. Was turfing a lawn near Franny Lees house last summer. We were working away, sweating our bo!!ocks off and Franny walks past. "Doing a good job there lads" he says and we have the usual uncomfortable gardener to passer by conversation about what we're doing, the weather and stuff, he goes off to posts a letter and comes back smoking a huge cigar. As he passed us again he offered us some free manure from his stables. I took him up on the offer, great manure actually! About 2 years old, well and truly rotted down to a fine consistency! He's got a shed load of land around there.
