The most incompetent, ill written city article ever

Seriously though...the only person who should give a fuck about our outbound transfer dealings is the Sheikh

He's the one that pays the wages

Anyone elses opinions are irrelevant

Someone who criticizes the outgoings of a club need to take a long hard look at themselves

You simply can't force players on contracts to take a pay cut. Also it's unlikely you'll get a decent price when everyone knows you're a forced seller, even if you do sort out the wage issue.

So it makes sense to moan them out, pay part of their wages, let them get regular first team football and put themselves in the shop window for next summer.

The issue isn't that they are being loaned out this summer. As you say with their wages being so high it makes sense to pay a portion of their wages and let them play elsewhere.

The issue is the fact they are on such high wages in the first place. Was there really any need to quadruple Bony's wages to get him to leave Swansea? If he had any ambition he'd come and play for us on the same wages he was on at Swansea.

Perhaps that's not realistic, he'd expect a bump in salary. Ok no problem, but perhaps the bump shouldn't be so great. The likes of Bony and Mangala should be well payed, but not so well paid that the likes of Stoke and Valencia can't afford to match the salary.

I'm afraid it doesn't matter how much tinsel you drape over this issue, it's not good, and we are wide open to criticism for this.

I only hope that this is (to paraphrase Winston) the end of the beginning, where we had to spend big and pay big to attract the quality players we needed to push the project forward. The days of "City needing them more than they needed City" are over now Pep is at the helm, and now is the clearout of the remnants of that time. Unpleasant, but necessary nontheless.

I think we will see a change over the next couple of years. Every player we have signed has either been modestly priced (Gundogan/Nolito) or where serious money has been paid (Stones/Sane/Jesus) you can only view there stock rising.

It feels different to signing Mangala who always seemed overpriced. I think you are right lessons have been learned and the last remaining remnants require removing.

We're fans. Criticising the ins and outs of every club is part of it. Btw I think Txiki is great and this is our best transfer window ever easily, but if any other club did what we did loaning out players of that price they'd be ridiculed on here. There would be multiple posts if Depay got loaned out etc.

I think our transfer strategy has changed now, but any way you slice it, loaning out big-money players while subsidising their wages isn't good business and never will be.

As fans transfers In maybe...but out? Who genuinely gives a fuck?

Spot on.

Managing to loan these players out and have a portion of their wages paid should be considered a victory in light of the mistakes that have been made with contracts in the first place.

A lot of people slagged off Garry Cook for the stupid wages/contracts offered to the likes of Robinho and Adebayor, but at that time it made sense - we were a mid-table team needing a quick ascent. But since 2012 we should be an attractive-enough proposition for top footballers without having to offer silly money. The fact that the likes of Mangala and Bony have had to be loaned out, after only being at the club for two years, because of their wages just illustrates this point.

But, I think maybe it's a small price to pay for getting the top talent that we now have - we have to gamble, take these high-wage risks on players, because for every Bony there's been an Aguero and a Kevin De Bruyne.

Just to answer why we pay Bony, Managala etc. these wages. Agents. Will be well known in those circles what we are paying in wages, so their agents say "if you really want my client you pay them this or we walk away", we should walk away but imagine after also being ripped off haggling a fee with their club to begin with we are obviously keen on them and pay up. Just a result of us paying over the odds to fast-track getting to where we are, everyone else sees pound signs out of us.

hopefully that will change now, we should have the attitude of if you don't want to play for us then piss off, but after saying that all the big clubs in England are way-overpaying for players and wages, just a sign of modern football and how players and agents especially have so much power. Someone was telling me today about players having "I take every penalty" or "I only play for 65 minutes" clauses in their contracts, apparently it was on BBC 5 live last night or something, if it is genuine just shows how far removed football is from what it was when I was growing up in the 80's and 90's.

O.K. guys, some are missing the point a little on here. We all know that the huge salaries are a pain and are preventing the off loading, that is a major problem, but that is not what the twat said. He stated in the title that Pep had personally concluded a bizarre piece of business but then neglected to mention the salaries at all. Seems to think we could have sold them all for many millions. As I said, c**t.
