the most overhyped city player in your opinion.

Has to be Steve Daley. Mario and robinho, it could be argued, whilst over hyped and lazy, actually did a bit- occasionally. I don't recall Daley doing anything, despite being a british record transfer. I was only lickul but I remember feeling let down. A feeling to which I would become very familiar over the next 3 decades.

To all those saying its M.Johnson.....wasn't really overhyped, a talent wasted in fact :(
Also not robinho, he had some pure moments of out of this world class, just other parts of the team weren't up to his standard

I'd say its Castillo, shocking and was actually hyped up

Prior to arrival - most overhyped player was Jo.
Remember Clueless waxing lyrical about him pre-season. Clearly the signing of Jo had been done & dusted before he arrived from Blackburn - but he had to pretend he had given it the final OK.
Then he went & scored for Brazil at the Olympics in China - before joining us for his 1st game.

It quickly became clear however - once he joined that we had signed a complete waste of space. £19m for fcuk sake!!

Still - I'll always remember he could dance. Witnessed by the post FA Cup final dressing room film.

Most of Svens signings were hyped. Jo is the one that comes to mind I was genuinely excited when we signed him for some reason.

Paul Bosvelt is another one, he was decent and played an important role but no where near as good as some made out. Wouldn't have been capped by the Dutch today.

Nery Castillo
Thought we'd signed some genuine quality.
He was terrible

i could be wrong but didn't he only play one game vs west ham away 0-0 fa cup?

i was there and he looked v good when he came on, i'm not really sure what happened to him.

To be fair to Robinho he's a very good player just not cut out for the English game, same can be said for Mario.

Nastasic

Good, not great

Made out to be world class on here

Potentially will be world class - so far he's had a great season, showing all the hallmarks of what makes a modern day centre half. The fact that he's so young and will likely improve in the coming years means its hard to label him overhyped - he's the best young prospect at the club for me.

As much as I wanted Balotelli to succeed here, and however much his contributions played a large part of our success in recent years, the hype that followed him didn't always transgress onto the pitch and for that reason he has to be in with a shout.
