The N word

If its acceptable in their own culture to call one another it, Why can't it be used by other cultures?

Instead of asking vague, meaningless questions without actually expressing an opinion, why not just tell us what you think?

Or I'll ask you a question. Would you feel comfortable to walk up to a black man you didn't know and address him as a ****** if you'd just heard him use the same word to a third person?

If you wouldn't, that's probably answered your question hasn't it?

Not all Black people use this term, or deem it acceptable/unacceptable.

Some people may deem it racist, some may not.
Some people (myself) see the word for what it is - a word... it has no power or meaning, it's just a man made word that could be used for anything, maybe one day on this planet we use the word to describe a Sandwich or a brand of Car.

Giving the word power by noticing it/being offended by it just highlights this word even more and gives the negative person, the person who uses this term to be potentially racist even more power.

A vast, arid state on the edge of the Sahara desert, Niger endured austere military rule for much of its post-independence history and is rated by the UN as one of the world's least-developed nations.

We are all Human. All come from Africa. We are all Niggers.

Before I write anything I am not racist and hate all who are, but the OP has a point, I hear a few of my mates refer to each other as ******, its the norm between them even if they don't know each other. It causes no offence and is not even questioned why they say it. Its a none subject as its accepted in society between themselves, its just white boys who because of the fear of being labelled as racist steer well clear of the word.

Because when a white person uses the N-word, when addressing a black person, it recalls the demoralization, segregation and discrimination of black people by white people throughout history.

But, you know, it could be something else.

Only when ignorant racist people want it to be something else, and I agree they do exist unfortunatly.

Well if he has a point mate, I've no idea what it is. What cultures is it that he is so keen to be "allowed" to use the word and to what end?

I'd say it's entirely down to audience and context.

If was rapping along to a song that uses the N-word and I'm in my own company I'll just use it. Songs are there to be enjoyed, repeated, listened to, performed, and I'd only be using the word within the context designed by the artist.
