The Nasri penalty claim

To me, it's a clear ........50/50!

Webb could have called it either way and it would have been hard to argue with his decision. But, if that was a Komps challenge we would have been praising him until the Mrs. and her mates come home.

Apologies if this has been done before. I took a quick glance down the board and didn't see it

1st half at 1-0, Nasri is bursting through and about to shoot when I think it was Sandro who comes in from behind and takes the ball and man.

Webb plays on. If he gave it as a foul, then he'd have had to send Sandro off. MOTD also agreed and said it was a perfect tackle.

I agree that Sandro took the ball, but he also took Nasri out in doing so, and it was from behind. Surely if you take the ball, but I doing so go through the man and foul him it's a penalty?

To be honest i am totally utterely confused with what is and what is not a legal tackle

The initial contact to me was fair he got the ball but his trailiing leg took out Nasri anywhere elso on the putch that would have been a free kick to City and a yellow for the Spuds player

Refs are utterely incompetent

Webb bottled it, yes sandro got a slight touch but not enough to clear the ball, if nasri is not brought down he scores or as an attempt to score, so for me penalty

If that's a foul I've lost all hope with tackling in the English game.
In the first foto have both his feet left the ground? yes

Is he travelling with momentum. Yes

Is he "in control"? No

A foul, plain and simple,.

Can I ask if you've ever played the game?

Id like to know how you slide tackle whilst running at full pace with one foot on the ground at all times. Can't be done.

He got the ball and managed to scoop it back toward him, knowing full well what he was doing so, yes, he was in control.

Of course he's travelling with momentum, are people supposed to tackle stood still? Theres also the issue that the player with the ball is also travelling with momentum. You kind of need to keep up with him to win the ball back.

Plain and simple, a good old fashioned tackle, fair, and wasn't dangerous. Exactly how tackling should be.

A good fair tackle is when the foot connects with the ball low and clears it. Neither happened on this occasion

He barely touched the ball, and the ball was still at Sami's feet when his left leg came through him.

Penalty all day long!

it WAS 'a good old fashioned tackle' but that's the problem, you cannot tackle like that anymore, he clearly stopped Nasri a scoring opportunity, red card & penalty.Harsh but to the letter of the law, next week a ref will give the opposite to what Webb did.No consistency...

Shoe on the other foot then.Had it been Nasty making that tackle and Spurs fans complaining you would have all said "great tackle".
Sorry, but I can't see any problem with that :)
Anyone would think we are biased towards our club, I'm not having that....

I suspect if it had been Vinny on Soldado, we'd have been on here moaning about another red card from Webb, and probably a very different result.

I was absolutely seething at the time, but after seeing it properly, it was a great challenge.

Spot on. If any of our defenders had done an identical tackle, and the ref had blown for a penalty, this forum would have gone into meltdown mode!
