The new training complex.

From a personal point of view construction has started in earnest today. A new construction milestone was reached with the first crane going up onsite this afternoon.

I noticed the crane going up this afternoon when I was going to the match. By the time the game was over most of the arm of the crane was in place as well.

The steel frame for the first building to be constructed is also going up.

Pictures taken this Afternoon before the match. A few similar pics. The large pano picture isn't quite right or that sharp/clear.

Upwards and onwards chaps. :-) (up yours Gill!)

Our complex is shaped as a pentagon. the centre of a pentagram.

mcfa-view-1-night.jpg

The Pythagoreans called the pentagram ὑγιεία Hugieia ("health"; also the Greek goddess of health, Hygieia), and saw in the pentagram a mathematical perfection .The ancient Pythagorean pentagram, with two legs up, represented the Pentemychos (πεντέμυχος "of five sanctuaries"), a cosmogony written by Pythagoras' teacher and friend Pherecydes of Syros. It was the "island" or "cave" where the first pre-cosmic-offspring had to be put in order for the cosmos to appear: "the divine products of Chronos' seed [σπέρμα spérma], when disposed in five recesses, were called Πεντέμυχος (Pentemuxos)".

Speaking of hi viz's with logo's on. I used to work for a company who supplied aircon equipment, we used to get a few engineers in as regulars. one guy was a big red, he told me he was really pleased as they were working on Gary Nevilles house. After a few visits he told me the full story, Gary was the project manager and was involved in everything. He was making a proper balls up of the job as nobody knew what they were doing and loads of work had to be redone. the best bit was he used to wear a hi viz on site with THE GUVNOR written on the back in GOLD letters. Not a surprise really.

It's gonna be great.

But why the new thread?

It was started a while back. Not by me.

Perhaps it's just me and my years on SSC, but I don't think the construction of the new training complex should be lost in the Etihad Campus/stadium thread.

The training complex deserves it's own thread. :-)

Whats happening with the athletics ground?

Is that going back to just athletics?
Once every three years as well as school sports days around June/July every year? (basically a completely wasted stadium!)

A crane for the company I work for ( ainscough the yellow crane) is on there erecting steel, not sure what building it is.as i ain't seen him but from what I do know is that whilst working on site you have to wear an mcfc entitled hi viz vest or ejected from site, the rags at our place are not happy lmao, will post more when I find more info or if my crane goes on...
Looks like its for the Facilities Building to me - which is an L shape building at the furthest corner from the stadium

Can't get over how good this looks/is going to be!

Those little bits of info posted earlier about having pitches with different grass etc and having a "hotel" for the players sounds incredible.
