The Newcastle crowd applauded our team. Anyone else?

Does anyone else remember Villa away, early 90s, City had a 'good luck from the City of Manchester ' banner, Villa were chasing manure for the title at the time
Remember it well. And typical city got their first top division away win for four years, against the top of the table, in the one game we didn't mind losing. Live on ITV.

I think this was the first game "Bluemoon" got a proper outing from the City fans. Peter Reid scored after a David White shot hit the post iirc.

Looks like they were applauding their own team who were doing a lap of honour.
For the third time, they weren't. I was in the middle of them.

I was sat in their end too, right in the middle of the stand behind the goal where our supporters were. The Newcastle fans definitely applauded City at full time, and it made it a lot easier for me to do the same.

Anyone recall Zola getting a standing ovation from us when he git subbed? Love sporting moments like these being discussed.

Yeah, was sat in the Gene Kelly and it was pissing it down.

Zola was phenomenal that match and as soon as he got subbed (round about 75-80 mins I think) everybody just fooked off home!! One of the best individual performances by a player I have ever seen.

And.... as another poster wrote, I too bought a ticket from a tout for that match, for the Platt Lane and got booted out when the ticket I bought al;ready had a lad in the seat!!! The game was about ten minutes old, and walking past the Main Stand another lad offered me a ticket for the Gene Kelly for a fiver, so I ended up there!!

Happy days scratching around for tickets in the rain. I always remember returning from Oz without next to no money, no job but ended up paying £40 of a tout for a ticket for the Leeds match in 2002. I sat regretting for the whole game my stupidity until Nicholas Jensen scored one of the best goals I have seen at Maine Road. Great reminder why its always worthwhile.

I will never forget us being 4 - 0 down to Arsenal within the first 20 minutes and at the end of the game they received a standing ovation from the crowd.

Impeccable.

same comment about the Geordies - had so many problems up these over the years but they were absolutely top notch after the game there this season

Agree. As Blues we should show a little respect and appreciation next season to the Geordies, Makems, the real Norwich and QPR. I for one appreciate what they all did in their own way. Lets give them some respect and show our class. Save the bile for the rags.

Can remember when Arsenal beat us 5-1 or something at Maine Road, think it was the invincible year or around that. Totally battered us and people were clapping pretty much every goal they scored. They were 4-0 up at half time!

4-0 after 20 minutes if my memory serves me. And yes as football fans what else could you do but admire a team like that Arsenal invincibles side. It was awesome stuff they played.
