The NHS

Labour announce they will get rid of waiting lists by working and operating on patients at nights and weekends.

Sounds good but where exactly do they find the staff to do this extra work? They say they will pay overtime. Already over worked and under staffed due to Tory cuts, I just don’t see how it’s possible in the short term and only a fully funded, fully staffed NHS will get waiting lists down.

They should announce plans on how they achieve that rather than some headline grabbing sound bite that most will see right through.

Sounds like the Manchester Mayors promise to End homelessness, politicians lie all the time, he could offer free trips to the moon and then make an excuse why he can't when the ink dries on his job contract.

I work in the NHS and i can't disagree, the management and admin side of things is farcical, i'm all for calling out this wretched government for their part in it's demise but the standard of management is beyond the pale, nepotism, bullying,a failure to change and dummies promoted beyond their ability are part and parcel of everyday life, it's quite simply embarrassing to witness but they are never held to account and the place where i work is stagnant and toxic i'm sad to say.
I feel for you mate, its excactly the same where i work.
the people who shout the loudest and the people who are slackers are always rewarded or excused etc.

two examples recently, one piece of shit that got suspended ( none of us know but she probably has been paid all this time ) at the start of december 2022 as just been relocated at the end of november 2023,an eleven month break/holiday , another sicknote as just been rewarded with a band upgrade.

i just feel that now in the nhs,any chancer, any bullshitter, any **** that can stay straight faced can get promotion, HR are complicit .

This post and the post it is commenting on are frightening. What to do?

Partner's father had a fall and been in hospital for over 2 weeks (aged 89). Got discharged yesterday. Got catheter in and they didn't include all the equipment for a stand to hold bag etc. He has carers to come in twice a day but no one available until 11 am so either he waits until then to have breakfast and get dressed or he does it himself. They didn't turn up today (first visit) until 11.30. Also got an evening visit at 7 pm. If he wanted 4 visits there would be availablity at 8 am 12 (mid-day) 4 pm and 8 pm. Why can't they have someone at 8 if he has 2 visits. The carers assessor who turned up 90 mins late yesterday forgot some of the paper work so needs another visit. Had a call from district nurse none available until Friday

SWMBO was an in-patient for a stem cell transplant at The Christie for three weeks before Xmas, there were tiny niggly things that perhaps could have been done better but on the whole I can't (and won't) criticise the care and support she's had...

Fuck knows what it would have cost if we didn't have an NHS

Just cancelled my partners Rheumatology appointment for Friday that she has waited nearly a year for due to the strike action. Gutted, hopefully they get her asap once it is over.

Listened to that Vorderman clip. 87 billion spent and 17 billion went to the NHS. Absolutely scandalous
