A pretty accurate assesment above IMO,except i'll go a step further and suggest only Rekik has a chance of being a regular,Guidetti will want to move as he will not accept being down a pecking order.I've not seen enough of Abu to make a judgement, his Norwegian stay has been highly succesful but his German adventure was the opposite for whatever reason...?? Weiss, not good/consistent enough and a suspect attitude.

It seems it is a new era for the academy/reserve set up. The old guard so to speak is being moved on and the new guard of the U18's this season and next is coming together. I'm pretty excited for the 16-18 year olds we have at the moment.

Definitely, our new status has helped acquire some of the hottest prospects in world football, room has to be made, very exciting times.
Following the Barcelona blueprint, the amount and quality of youth players will slowly increase until we move into the new training facilities, with us cherry picking the best, you can see from this season that the EDS is Starting to play the exact style of the first team, which is hard to copy the silva's and yaya's, were just lacking the numbers and amount of quality young players to keep it consistent

I dont think we will bring through a youth players for a good number of years tbh, they just arent given a chance, look at suarez meant to be one of the next big things, but has not had one chance ( I dont mean the bench or ten minutes here and ther ) Please give Guidetti a chance, would love to see a youth player in the team

Would you play Suarez ahead of Silva or Nasri?

no, but I would play him in games where they were rested or not as important games ie the carling cup, fa cup, when we were winning by 4 or 5, why not you wont know if there good enough without a chance. He didnt get a chance in any of these

The 18s do seem very talented and technically good, if even 1 of them could make it, it would be great for the club especially as nearly all of them are British. Emyr Huws seems to done well lately, he was called the next Aaron Ramsey when we got him. And George Evans has had a good season too, promoted to EDS having just turned 17.

But we'll eventually have to stop buying just to free up a slot or two to give a youngster a chance. Right now they have so little chance, for example a chance for Suarez or Roman would only likely come if Nasri and Silva are both injured and if we buy Hazard that's a third capable of doing the playmaker role.

The thing is with Suarez and Roman is that they are still young. Too many fans in this country assume that if you aren't making headlines at 17 then you have no chance which is rubbish. I never get carried away with players making the headlines at 17, 18 because they might have peaked, whilst someone else is just developing nicely but won't be ready til they are 21, 22.

I'm guessing quite a lot of people would have Pedro in City's squad, he will be playing in the el classico tonight and yet he made his debut at 21, a perfect example of someone who just developed at a nice pace whilst everyone else around him peaked.

But again it's going back to what i said before, you need to impress on loan to have a chance here. Roman next season needs to go out and make a name for himself. If he can't make a name for himself in the championship at 19 then his chances here will be limited, it is ok scoring 4 against a lower league conference side's reserves but it won't give Mancini knowledge that he can do it against a prem side.

I always look at Tom Cleverly as the perfect example. Wasn't a wonderkid and spent time away from the club gaining experience and came back a player who had 75 games behind him at League 1, Championship and Premier League level. When he's needed, Ferguson has no trouble using him as he's not this inexperienced kid.

For me next season, Roman needs to go out on loan for the full season and Suarez i'd keep for 6 months for the Next Gen league and Carling Cup games and then send him on loan in Jan.

Agree with you. I think a lot of supporters enjoy the 'Macheda moment'. I think we should send Suarez somewhere where he is out of the limelight e.g. Ipswich etc. There is no doubt that Suarez is talented but it is all about timing with him. Let him blend in with the culture of English football and give him a couple lengthy loan spell at Championship and League 1 level before phasing him in to our first 11.

-- Sat Apr 21, 2012 5:45 pm --

Here he played LB

Anyone who has seen him live think Elabdoulai is any good - looks quite nicely balanced on the snippets on city tv?

He always looks good in reserve highlights but we've done nothing except loan him to our Norwegian partner club and he's already 20. Benali also looks good for the reserves though and he couldn't cut it at Rochdale, so it's really hard to say how good these kids are until they get tested properly. Look at Bunn, he's on the bench at Oldham and is a goal machine for our reserves.

The under 18s have now lost two in a row when they've only needed one win to seal their group. Lost to Derby on Saturday and Crewe today. One game left away at Stoke on Saturday, not sure what the points situation will be by then.

If they play like they did today they might lose the last game as well. A bit unlucky with the 2 Crewe goals.Only 2 minutes apart as well with the first seeming to come from a blatant foul by their centre half who climbed over our lad and then a deflection for the 2nd.

We were basically camped in their half for the last 45 minutes but just lacked the guile and composure to break them down.Could have had 2 pens though. One the ref said was good chest control then he qualified that by saying he tried to use his chest anyway!!! Then a shot was blocked inside the area and the Crewe fan next to me called it a good save as the defender clearly had both hands in the air which blocked the ball.

Poor pitch, poor ref and poor performance.

Not impressed with alex henshall. Before their game v crewe, he said 'gonna win the league today #easy' or summat like that.

They lost, he is getting stick from blues over it (rightly so), and he has now resorted to telling blues to shut up and basically saying he doesnt care what they say cos hes a footballer and they are not.

Very poor show from this arrogant young man.
