The official EDS and academy thread 2011/12

For those that have been asking, the following players will be joining the Academy next season on a full time basis......Angus Gunn, Billy O'Brien, Liam Sharp (All Goalkeepers),Ashley Smith Brown, James Horsefield, Jose Pozo(likely to go straight to EDS Squad), Marco Lopes, Bersant Celina, Dominic McHale, Sinan Bytyqi, Matthias Bossaerts, Jack Byrne also still floating around is Sirafim Mihailov

There is more than likely three 'Right to Dream' players joining the EDS...Godsway Danyoh, Enock Kwakwa and Bismark 'nana' Kwarteng(although no official announcement has been made

At the younger levels, Gabriel Almedia, Martin Samuelson, Sam Jones and Alusine Fofanah have all been signed up

didnt realise we signed Jack Byrne hes supposed to be very highly rated him noel baba and o'hanolan are supposed to be the best players irelands had through since robbie keane, hopefully he'll get to play with the eds he can definately make the grade hopefully we get to see more of him and pozo, seems like they'll be a lot of changes at youth level it will be good to see imo the level of our youth team is going to step up a level and we'll be more competitive at the next gen i think last years next gen was a good experience for the lads. i think we'll see a few more arrivals and maybe some coaching changes. we seem to be after a home grown defender i wouldnt be suprised if we go after monty gimpel again we were close to signing him before and he seems to be doing very well at leeds.

Read a good article online about our best EDS and Academy players ....looks promising if the writer knows anything about talent. What players have the best chance to break into the squad in the next year(s) and if so will Mancini give them any chances? With Fair Play Rules coming into effect next year the Academy will become more and more important to supplant our current players.
Gotta a link to it? Would be interested in reading it!
Thanks

Really cannot see Bunn or Wabara being anything more than Championship/League One journeymen. Razak had his issues at Brighton, but still has talent and time on his side. Roman and Cole have the most promise out of those.

Official list of released players out now in the main site:

http://www.mcfc.co.uk/News/Team-news/2012/May/Players-released-by-Manchester-City

Owen Hargreaves
Ahmed Benali
Sean Tse
Paul Clowes
Luke Coulson
Tom Halsall
George King

I'm surprised Gai Assulin was released..I thought he was one of the more promising players, unfortunately blighted by injuries..was he that bad?

Wishing those released the best of luck and hope they find a club soon..

Assulin goes the way of Dos Santos and other new Messi types. Has lots of nice tricks but there just isn't enough to him to make it at a level like ours and he seems weak mentally (gives up very easily). Plus he seems to get injured every few months. His contract must have been up and the club felt not worth renewing, it's a shame really but we have Suarez and Roman who fill similar roles and younger kids like Rusnak and the new ones from the U16s coming through like Almeida.

was he that bad" is a terrible way of phrasing it.Bottom line is they are all good footballers but just not good enough for City and where we are going.
