Good to see the youth set up flourishing!!!

A long day that I believe for the boys as they were there and back in less than 24 hours. For some reason they didn't go out the day before but started at something like 5 am from a hotel in Manchester, flew out and played the game that evening. Looked like they were very leggy in the 2nd half and that wouldnt be a surprise.

We can get beat 10-0 every week if we start to produce world class players over the next years. Lets face it the good teams we have had over the last 5 years haven't produced anything.

Sounds like Helan wasn't happy with his lack of match time at Carlisle.

Man City loan star Jeremy Helan leaves Carlisle Utd
Last updated at 15:49, Thursday, 10 November 2011

The 19-year-old midfielder joined from Premier League pacesetters Manchester City in the middle of last month and made two substitute appearances for the Cumbrians.

Carlisle manager Greg Abbott said he had told Helan that he wanted him to stay - and City had agreed to that - but the player is looking at other options.

"Manchester City were really happy with the way we did things, but it appears that something else has come up for him," Abbott said.

"We'll see where he goes now, because he has kept that close to his chest but he leaves with our very best wishes."

U18's currently 3-0 up away at Everton at HT. I take it we've now gone back to having a decent academy......................?

Everton must be awful, i mean whats the point of bringing through Rooney, Rodwell and Barkley if they don't contribute to a winning team at youth level?

I thought I'd share a recent interview with Rekik done in Netherlands.
Its Google translated so forgive my Dutch!

Karim Rekik exchanged Feyenoord last summer for Manchester City. And the only 16 year old youth international has no regrets about it since. 'I wanted a step higher, and always dreamed of playing in England. I had the opportunity to go and did not hesitate. Manchester City has been the right choice in everything. "

Rekik, who has Tunisian roots, goes like a rocket. City coach Roberto Mancini left the central defender in preparing all raids against Internazionale. On September 21 Rekik made his official debut in the Carling Cup match against Birmingham City (2-0 gains). 'That I will never forget, "he says OnsOranje.nl. " We played at home, in a full stadium. I was in the second half only warm up and then you know that the coach plans. "Call me now!" I always thought. And then came the moment, just over ten minutes before time. Whether I was nervous? Mancini also said that to me. No, not at all. I enjoyed every moment. After the final whistle came the realization really. My debut for City. It was a fantastic night. "

The club has a lot of confidence in Rekik. Not for nothing was he appointed as captain of the reserves. As a 16-year-old. 'The first time I got the captain, I thought it would be off. But these matches remained so. Yeah, what do you do? Take responsibility. It shows a lot of confidence in me. I must therefore make it radiate true. I do not feel extra pressure. I'm just doing my thing. "

Rekik weekdays trains along the main force. As if the most natural thing in the world. 'The first time I thought: this is really really fast. But at some point you just go along and in the high level. I have a lot to guys like Vincent Kompany, Yaya Toure and Nigel de Jong. They give me tips and say I must have patience. Tricky, because after the Carling Cup, I obviously increasing. But I understand what they mean. "

Rivalry

The rivalry between Manchester United and City has not escaped Rekik. The historic 1-6 at Old Trafford saw the tube. " Unbelievable. I sat with my family watching and did not know what I saw. Especially the second half went so fast. I think the score could even be higher. After that 1-6 it is felt that the City is directed to take over. That the roles are reversed. It says something, of course, a rash. "

The players are adored by City fans, including Rekik. " I was recently at a restaurant when someone tapped me on my shoulder. He wanted a picture. Wow, I thought. Some getting used to though. As I occasionally walk through a mall, people waving at me. Separately, for sure. But I have no problem with that. I think it's great fun even. "

As development continues Rekik, the focus for him in the coming years will only increase. " City feels like a family. I could go to clubs in other countries, but I absolutely wanted to England. And I have no regrets about it since. This is a childhood dream, yes. I just want to keep going the same way and eventually reach the top. What's that? The best defender in the world! "

as nice as it is have a winning team, its not what the eds is about, its about creating players of good enough quality to play first team football. of course the higher the standard of your first team the harder it is to find and train young players up to this advanced standard.

if we get one a year to come through we will have done an unbelievable job.

to add to this, this year has been a major step up from playing stockport, bury and the like

So its not good creating that winning menatility all the way through the club, just like Barcelona do. Its not all about having the best team and players and creating a system from youth to senoir level well just like that successful club in Spain does.

No we employ some clueless halfwit who makes the youth set up a laughing stock and gets tonked every game regardless of the opositiob.

Do you realise how stupid you sound? If we get tonked every week why are the U18's top of the league. Stop embarrassing yourself.

Manchester City midfielder Gai Assulin has spoken of his plans to drop down to the Championship in the new year.

The Israeli starlet has acknowledged he has little chance of breaking into City's first team squad that currently tops the Premier Division.

"I need confidence and I can only get that by playing regularly," Assulin said. "City and I both feel that I should go out on loan so I can play every week.

"I could stay in England or maybe join a team in the Spanish second division."

Assulin, 20, has reunited with agent Pini Zahavi who told the player to lower his sights to get valuable playing time after leaving Barcelona last year.
