The official EDS and academy thread 2011/12

Here is the team playing Rochdale right now in the Manchester Senior Cup:

Johansen, Smith, Bridge, Francisco Silva Jnr, Onuoha, Rekik, Roman, Tse, Hiwula, Suarez, Helan

Quite a team but currently losing 1-0 after 12 minutes. Strangely enough one of our own players Ahmad Benali, on loan at Rochdale, is playing against us.

Good to hear our little Spanish whiz-kids are doing so well. I really hope Suarez will be more involved with the first team next season as I feel he could be quite a player.

Hopefully the OS will have footage up and running soon.

From the bit -'ve seen of Suarez he has all the tools but his concentration, awareness and desire are holding him back.
Trust the coaches to instill that into him.

I've heard that too, but he seems to raise his game dramatically when involved with the first team. Maybe he is a bit too good for the youth squad/games?

With Mancini to man-manage him, and Silva to tutor/mentor him, we could be looking at a future little wizard in the making.

From what I've seen he can beat a couple of men which relative ease, he can be pretty direct and has a decent turn of pace and strength about him, picked that up in the Celtic game where he stood out like a sore thumb amongst the others.

Think the Europa League, with maybe Assulin, Razak and anyone who comes back off loan in January for whatever reason should be mixed with Hargreaves and that will be far more beneficial for him than playing with the youth team as I think he plays better with better players around him, I think, and it's sometimes not a bad thing, that he feels he's better than the level he's playing at.

I don't think he'll lack the desire when he is playing for the first team - as for the other two I suspect they will come, especially concentration (see: Richards, Micah).

It may be arrogant of him but I suspect Suarez isn't exactly motivated playing for the U18s... he'd already be getting regular Premier League football at a club like Blackburn and is miles above U18 level already, and he probably knows it.

Roman is the opposite, he's always motivated and humble, doesn't quite have the ability of Suarez, but is still very talented.

Seen Roman play a few times and seems to be more ready than Denis. He has tremendous ability and he is much more direct player similar to that of Nani rather than Denis who is quite similar to David. Think we should send them on loan to Bolton or a Blackburn and see how they fare there. Didn't ruin Daniel did it?

-- Fri Dec 09, 2011 5:09 pm --

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94_Hsejupb8

This might be the wrong thread I apologise in advance but does anyone know how Michael Johnson is doing?

I feel the same, Roman looks more ready for the first team than Suarez.

I don't agree... it looks to me Roman is used in a more forward position, even a a striker, and making his way into out 1st team in a strikers position looks really difficult to say the least.

Suarez on the contrary, belong to a really small selection of players; creative attacking midfielders, and I personally think he has got enough to soon (next year) make his way into our 1st team, with the help of Mancini and guidance by Silva.

Good to see Devante still knocking them in and a great result for the lads.

Brilliant for Devante. Hasn't really looked the part in most games I have seen him so delighted with this and it will do his confidence a power of good.

Great result to beat the top of the league 6-1 and then to go top yourself because of that.
