Heard something about a reserve game today behind closed doors against Carlisle but don't know where or exactly when!

Anyone know anything?

Makes sense, after Helan signed on loan their manager was talking up the good relationship our clubs were forming.

I think that the Andy Walsh and co. are making a pigs ear of the U18/EDS setup. They've pulled out of the Reserve League where they can get the young lads regular competitive games and yet throw a group together from both sets (U18 and EDS) for the NextGen series when they don't play together any other time. All the weaknesses were there for all to see tonight.

Get back in the Reserve League and get the likes of Helan, Roman, Suarez, Bunn, and Razak etc playing regularly. What's going to happen to likes off Assulin as he's too old for the NextGen series and therefore there are no teams that he can get regular football to possibly have any chance of getting into the first team squad!

I agree but you are really missing the point here. We need to get rid of that clown Welsh he is destroying our youth set up and single handidly unravelling all the hard work done over the years in establishing us a force in terms of the youth team set up. I cannot believe that this buffoon brought in by Hughes has slipped under the radar so far as not being up to the job.

No offense to Celtic but we should be chewing them up and spitting them out especially on our own turf. We are now officially a laughing stock after last nights shambles.

Well it sounds like Roman had a good game at least, two more goals for him. Suarez getting most of the hype but Roman is delivering.

he only got one of the goals and that was a tap in. if he gets his head up and has a look asround , he might see that he's not the only player on the pitch

Greg Cunningham to join Forest on loan for first team football. He has no chance with us at the moment (or probably ever) with Clichy, Kolarov, Zaba, and Bridge in front of him.

I think you are really missing the point here. I am pretty sure the aim is not to be winning the games, but developing the style of football that we play in the first team.....

We have just bought Boyata through and we also have Razak sitting on the fringes right now so something must be working.

Boyata was a league and FA youth cup winner signed by Jim Cassell and put in our first team by a different manager..Razzak ??? strong physical specimem end of!!!!!

Francisco de Silva,a trialist ,looked quite good in the middle of the park. He has played a few games though and not overly impressed but although the opposition was very weak he showed some good signs.
Harry Bunn seems to be a little off his game at the moment. Roman does some very good things but I think a lot more not so good.Best goal came when a well timed overlap from Smith was found by Roman and the low cross turned in by Adam Drury.

The goal by Hiwula was quality as well getting onto a great long crossfield ball from Meppen Walter and finishing well

Courtney has a lot going for him as you say in his size but pace is not on that list.I wouldnt say he is a fantastic prospect but he is a prospect.Learning all the time of course and at the moment playing left back which imo isnt going to be his best position. Needs to work on supporting the attacking a little better.

He can get forward and make great crosses and he delievers a great crossfield pass but in general play he seems to get his positioning and angles wrong a lot of the time.

Do you think that he's more of a centre back or defensive midfielder? whenever I've seen him play he seems to get lucky, in the sense that when he is caught out of position the finally pass generally isnt good enough to expose his positional sense, but when I've seen him play well christ he isnt half a monster up and down the left flank, perhaps he just needs to get some consistency into his game?

He seems to be given the left back slot a lot now so I am guessing they see him as a full back but for me he just hasnt got enough pace for that role.I would say center back is his best position( definitely not defensive midfield which I have never seen him play) but others get that job like Rekik,Veseli, Kennedy and Tse today.

He is a beast though and as I said learning and improving all the time.

he didnt play for eds last night and wasnt benched either. so some people thought maybe he would play for the seniors tonight. but also nothing! he is not allowed to play the nextgen-series because of age and so there is only the shitty manchester senior cup where he could play but he didnt either.

so he is waisting his time at city. thats a fakt!

Gai is becoming one of the great mysteries of our club, he really is a talented player so what is happening and why isn't he appearing even in EDS friendlies? Maybe the guy from mcfcreservesandacademy.co.uk can find out as he goes to all the youth games - his son posts on here I think?
