I don't know anything about the academy and youth level in England but I am guessing it is because they just dont have the technical ability.

Our u14s are mostly English I believe and they have been praised recently for how good they have been, dominating their age group I think.

Question albeit quite basic but; homegrown players just need to have graduated from the academy or have spent X amount of years in England? Or is there a quota of English players we need to maintain?

Wow, thats now 3 new Vieiras.... just at city alone!

Haha, exactly what I was thinking... or are they new Pogbas now?

Have we given up on signing English kids 16 and above? Most of our targets seem to be foreign. Have the likes of Henshall and Hutton (so far) failing to live up to early hype soured us on poaching domestic talent above a certain age?

I think English academy players are just way to expensive compared to foreign ones. Look at Will Hughes for example, Ive read figures of £8m for him, and although part of that is because he's already an established first team player, I'm sure the club would prefer to spend a fraction of that on someone from abroad.

Plus the English ones have crap names in comparison

I think it's 3 seasons(or years) under the age of 21.

So really you need to be 17 years 364 days old.

Nice to see Khaldoon talk about the academy bearing fruit in the next "20 years".

Martin Samuel was already taking the piss saying he's heard it all before at Chelsea. They'll be saying the academy hasn't worked after 1 year.

i think that we will begin to hear alot more about our talented english players in 3 years or so, im thinking about our u14's and down who have been dominating their agegroup, and they are mainly english, so im excited too see if they can keep on playing on that level!

Dont think Gabriel Fernando is too happy with his situation in City. He tweeted
Sarted from the bottom and believe it or not I am still currently sitting at the bottom..
I also noticed a few youngsters retwetting fan's tweets about hoping the new manager would give them a shot and that they have earned it. Can't blame them tho, id have the same feeling when you see that noone has been given the chance really.

Also dont know if u saw but we did also buy Manu Garcia a couple days ago, 16 year old kid from some spanish team, can't remember which.

How many of these kind of signings is too many? Don't want a situation where some of our hot prospects lose out on game time because there is too much competition. Although I'm sure several of this years EDS won't be there next season - Lopes and Suarez for example I would expect to go on loan

None. We could sign 10 more and chances are maybe 2-3 of them will be Premier League caliber.

He is 16 years old!
What did he expect? to be playing in the first team?
FFS.

I follow him on Twitter and he doesn't half go on about a load of nonsense and could do with just keeping his head down and working hard as it seems he doesn't!

All he does is tweet pictures of himself playing football.

Yeah i know, and i agree matey

Some of the young academy lads and their first world problems are unbearable... had to unfollow a bunch of them on Twitter. If they're growing up such prima donnas it's no surprise our success rate is so low. Some of them are like "Oh fook, I'm so tired having to wake up at 7am to live my dream for one of the top clubs in England, earning more money than most other teenagers in the world. Please pity me."
