After a long weekend with many competitions is the final there again! In a nail-biting finale defeated Manchester City off the traveled from AZ Alkmaar 1-2. After a flying start from Manchester City was the ball within 1 minute already in the net of AZ (0-1). The citizens had not yet run its and found out that the finale was going to be no walkover. AZ Alkmaar squared his shoulders and repaired the damage within 5 minutes (1-1). This was the halftime score.
The second half was much like the first half exciting. The goal could fall on both sides, but Manchester City finally shot the 1-2. The rest of the game was mostly AZ Alkmaar which was attacking and a number of times, with good football, dangerous for the goal came. Manchester City came sporadically still a number of times with the rapid forefront, but good defending from the Alkmaar ensured that the score remained at 1-2. With that result if the cup in the air for Manchester City and they were crowned champions of the United Youth Cup 2013!
Top scorer in the tournament with eight goals was City striker Henri Ogunby whilst John Hilton of City was also voted player of the tournament
City progressed to the final by winning Group D beating FC Twente(4-2),Nec/FC Oss(3-2) and KRC Genk(3-0), In the quarter finals they saw off Borussia Monchengladbach(3-2) before destroying Red Bull Salzburg (6-1) in the semis to set up a final with AZ Alkmaar.
