Both Suarez and Roman started for Barcelona B in their 2-0 Miniclásico win over Real Madrid Castilla. Barca's website singled out Suarez, saying he "showed his class" before being taken off.

And George Swan is joining Sheffield Wednesday on loan tomorrow, big move for him given they are in the Championship. Bunn is at Sheffield United on loan but they're a league down. Swan will have a fight getting in a Championship team at his age (18), but if he can that'll be a great sign.

strange considering he rarely started for the EDS this or last season

Not sure if this should fit in here or the Etihad development thread.

At the weekend the parents of the current pre-academy children (U6, U7, U8) all had a 30 min talk from the club.

What really stood out for me is the absolute belief from the staff giving the talk that the City Academy will be one of the best in the world in terms of facilities and quality of the coaching.

There's a real desire to have the best lads in the area come there.

It interesting that while other clubs pre-academies/development centres really don't like kids going to other clubs to train (they are in competition after all) City said it's not something that bothers them, as the more football the boys get the better. They're confident that should the boys make the grade to be signed at U9 (when they have to choose which club) that the boys and parents will have no doubt (regardless of fan loyalties) of where offers the best training for their child and it will be City.

Each player gets a more tailored development plan - it does not necessarily mean selection for a particular squad is the answer. I do like this academy plan in the longterm because it should protect against injuries etc and overdevelopment/over confidence too soon in a young player's career.

The future is blue!

My mates who support Wednesday seem to be of the belief that Swan is only going there to play for their reserves, so they can loan one of their acdemy CB's to a lower league team to get experience. So we are essentially loaning him to get experience in the U21 league. Seems very strange

So you think he's been deliberately held back from being picked as it will aid his development? I think the explanation from the last poster is more likely!

If you are interested enough to post on a thread like this, instead of mindlessly misinterpreting the situation regarding one of our young players & making stupid fucking assumptions casting doubt on their credentials, why not take the trouble to have a look around & see if you can get a bit of info which might give you a fucking clue what you are talking about ?

Like this for instance: George harry swan ‏@georgeharryswan 2 Aug

First game back tomorrow after a very long 11 months out injuried. Looking forward to pulling the shirt on again! #mcfc

Or this : George Swan is a commanding centre-back with the ability to read the game and his strengths lie in winning the ball in the air and his timing of tackles. He can also get forward and score goals with his powerful long-range shots.

The defender joined City from Leeds United where his father made 49 appearances in the eighties. He had an injury hit season last season but Swan is expected to stake his claim oncemore after an operation on his knee gave him the all-clear.

Swan spent a month on loan at Norwegian Premier League outfit Stromsgodset towards the end of the 2011/12 campaign.
