It's not racist, its shit.
Was funny the first few airings, now its just boring and wank.
Here we have a world class striker playing for us and all we can sing about is how massive his cock is and how he uses it to make his wife sore.
Get the darts one going FFS!
I'm tending to agree with you mate. What has amazed me though is the people who think it's as bad as a 'Munich' reference or is genuinely racist. To be honest, because of that, I won't be singing it anymore. I don't want to offend anyone. Not my style.
However, I really do think people need to show a bit more understanding that football is not like real life. Racism is
never acceptable but for me, going to the match is all about escapism, having a drink and a laugh with my mates (who are now all in their thirties!) and acting differently than I have to when meeting clients and the like in my 'professional' capacity. I've seen the anger from people on here in regard to people smoking in the toilets. I can't relate to that because, even though I don't do it, it reminds me of the old Kippax toilets and I actually like it. I can hear the sound of people thumping on their keyboards in response to that but I'm just being honest.
When I was a kid on the Kippax, my abiding memories are not of the people who stood in silence, my memories are of the balloons who sung their hearts out and behaved in a slightly unhinged manner. That's what made the atmosphere what it was. I accept every song doesn't have to have swearing in it or be offensive, but it's not like being at Church, we don't have hymn books, and the spontaneous way chants develop combined with drink and adrenalin is bound to create chants which are not suitable to all ears. I'm afraid that's football culture. Is it too much to ask for some people to live and let live. For example, Bossman Blue, instead of running to the nearest steward, why not just shrug your shoulders and accept that everyone isn't the same and get on with it? Like I say, racism is never acceptable, but the chant in question might be shit, but it is not racist.
