They've been saying it for ages, the posters on ragcafe are surprisingly unbiased. They have a thread on there called Torres vs Tevez, where they constantly go on about a fit Torres being a far better player than both Tevez and Rooney. They have another one comparing Carlos and Rooney I think.
i'd say thats bollocks, plus,Red cafe do not speak for the majority of their fans.
why have you been goin on red cafe for ages come to think of it?
I'd link you to the thread but i can't be arsed. Should be pretty easy to find on there. Most rags I know would say Torres is the better player, it's fucking obvious.
Why have I been going on ragcafe for ages? Errrm, well, shit, my cover is blown! You've caught me out!

I went on there before the home derby last season and that's where I saw threads about it.

Haha, Torres hasn't been fully fit for the best part of 12 months.

Funny how loads of City fans are defending shrek now he's leaving the rags, a week ago he wasn't fit to lace Torres' boots.

Anyone who doesn't wan't Rooney as a footballer playing for City is, in my humble opinion a ickle City fan, or if you rearrange those words it becomes clearer, a fan of an ickle City!

Possibly the biggest load of crap you've written on here.

That's a bit unfair mate.

I'm certain he's written far more crappy stuff than this...

Life is too short to read all 33 pages so apologies if (as I suspect) nothing new here.

Rooney has developed into a pretty loathsome character. Snarling, abusive to referees, adulterer and disrespectful to his own body as an athlete and to his employers and fans who have a right to expect for the money he gets that he will put himself in the best shape to perform at the highest level.

Rooney has become rather injury prone and has suffered an alarming drop in form. There is also a nagging feeling that he hasn't quite delivered consistently against the very best.

To get him (especially in January) if there is competition would be putting money into the United coffers. Would we really want to facilitate the transfer of Torres? There is a risk we end up with a Gascoigne and United end up with a rejuvenated superstar. Given our looming superiority and the prospect of Balotelli, why take that risk?

Spending the money might also mean we cant meet FIFA financial rules.

Finally, the point about the perception excess and greed is important. This would be seen as the ultimate demonstration that City really does not care about the immorality of the game. Flirting with Terry was bad enough. To sign the Rooney of 2010, not the brilliant working class football-mad throwback some of us rather reluctantly acknowledged (incorrectly as it turns out) would risk alienating a lot of the core support and if not turning them away from the club, at least diluting even more the joy that we shall hopefully get when success is achieved.

Let him go to Real.

By saying he's better than a fit Fernando Torres.

Torres is a much better player than Rooney. He has basically carried a poor Pool side for a couple of years as we are now seeing.

There is however a huge question mark over his fitness. Van Persie if he wasn't so injury prone is better too.

Eto'o for a couple of years. Drogba ditto. Villa if it doesn't work out at Barca. Higuain young and hungry. Llorente at Bilbao looks useful. Dzeko young and different to what we already have.

OK they don't have the headline grabbing X factor. But on the pitch much better options.

Lots of people, for some reason, seem to prefer this headline grabbing X factor. Well, we could get that by winning the league. And we don't need Wayne fucking Rooney to win the league. I may be wrong but I'm sure fbloke himself said, before all this Rooney shite hit the fan, that he had a funny feeling we'd win the league this season.
