The official "We don't want Wayne Rooney" thread.

One other reason not to give the rags a gold mine.

Hodgson confirms the rags are considering a bid for Torres with the money:

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1322358/Wayne-Rooney-Liverpool-fear-United-swoop-Torres.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... orres.html</a>

Rooney to us has 99.9% more chance of happening than that,,imho not that i truly belive either will happen anyway

As it is, we have played our best games with three attacking players and three midfielders holding possession, freeing up the attackers and joining them when possible.

For our attacking options we have Tevez, Silva, Balotelli, AJ, Santa Cruz, Adebayor as well as Nimely and Gudetti if the occasion calls for it. This is a really young line up and will develop further. I liked these players before they played for us and would hate to see their development stopped to make room for Rooney.

Honestly the best thing for us would be for him to move to Italy or Spain where he wouldn't strengthen our competition. Also being away from the spot light could help his personal life which is kind of sad as it is.

Finally, just cant see myself ever celebrating a Rooney goal…

Have any of you lot in the pro Rooney camp ever stopped, even for one minute to think about the safety and well being of poor old Rose the tea lady should this fat bin dipper join our club ? Nope, didn't think so. We'd have to employ Andy Mcnab as her personal chaperone to keep the scouse sex case away from her. Talk about off field distractions for the lad !!

If we buy Rooney, can we call United our feeder club?

Nope.

If we buy Rooney, we can call ourselves United.

Like it? No, I didn't think so.

Life is too short to read all 33 pages so apologies if (as I suspect) nothing new here.

Rooney has developed into a pretty loathsome character. Snarling, abusive to referees, adulterer and disrespectful to his own body as an athlete and to his employers and fans who have a right to expect for the money he gets that he will put himself in the best shape to perform at the highest level.

Rooney has become rather injury prone and has suffered an alarming drop in form. There is also a nagging feeling that he hasn't quite delivered consistently against the very best.

To get him (especially in January) if there is competition would be putting money into the United coffers. Would we really want to facilitate the transfer of Torres? There is a risk we end up with a Gascoigne and United end up with a rejuvenated superstar. Given our looming superiority and the prospect of Balotelli, why take that risk?

Spending the money might also mean we cant meet FIFA financial rules.

Finally, the point about the perception excess and greed is important. This would be seen as the ultimate demonstration that City really does not care about the immorality of the game. Flirting with Terry was bad enough. To sign the Rooney of 2010, not the brilliant working class football-mad throwback some of us rather reluctantly acknowledged (incorrectly as it turns out) would risk alienating a lot of the core support and if not turning them away from the club, at least diluting even more the joy that we shall hopefully get when success is achieved.

Let him go to Real.

In my view we can delete 44 pages, and lock the thread with just this post above remaining.

Well said that man. Summed it all up perfectly.

Well Bobby Manc has said this morning that we're NOT interested. Who else do you need to hear it from?

Unbelieveable.

And we are dreaming big, seeing big, etc etc etc. I don't buy this argument that if we don't want Rooney then we don't want or won't get success. We already have big name players and we will get more, whether or not he is one of them.
No you're not.
Rooney is a much bigger name than any we have. Much bigger.
He would advance "The Project" by light years.
I cannot understand how some of you can't see that.
But you will...
I read your predictions DD with their inspiring confidence and unfailing generosity of spirit and I think of this (I can't think why )
