The owners wanted Robinho look how that turned out, people are allowed their own opinion just because the club/owners/manager wants a player doesn't mean that everyone should bow down and agree.

BTW the only reservation I have regarding Rooney is whether he will do it on the pitch!

Robinho was not a proven Premier League performer, you can level many things at Rooney's off the field behaviour, but he has desire and drive.

He's a born winner. We do not just sign a world class talent.

We are signing one with a grudge, and a determination to remind everyone of his abilties.

I seem to recall the same of Carlos Tevez.

Anybody on this forum who doesn't admit that the first name they look for, after the City team, is whether Rooney is in a manure line-up come derby day.

I can't wait.

Lets hope your certainty isn't ill founded then Tolm's.

I don't know anyone else who has been so definite during this saga as most have simply shrugged their shoulders.

You could well be onto something though as the world and his wife are now bigging up City in this.

I can't wait either.

I'm more excited about this one than any transfer in our history.

By a long way, actually.

It's not just his ability, although that's a big plus.

It's where this signing would take us as a club.

Who are you and where have you left DD's body?

With Rooney in the side come January we have a real real chance of winning the fucking league!!!

Rooney is on a mission to play alongside the best squad in the country.I bet his eyes popped out of his head at the England camp-6,yes fuckin 6 City players on the pitch at the same time.

Add Silva,Yaya,Kolo,Boeteng,Kolarov,Balotelli,Kompany and Tevez into the mix and he must be creaming his pants at the prospect.

He will kick on to another level at City.

As has already been stated, its rude to talk complete common sense on this thread.

Edward Elgar mentioned back in late July early August that we were about to shake up the world.

Nimrod is soaring and so is my belief.

Have any of you lot saying 'won't somebody please think of the children [owner]?' never ever questioned one of our signings, or leaving Hughes in charge for a year and a half, or getting rid of him and bringing in Mancini? Or ever questioned of the tactical decisions of their trusted managers? If so, you're fucking ungrateful by your logic. If not, you're fucking sheep who think being grateful to a great benefactor is acting a nodding dog on a football forum.

I hope that's not aimed at me.
It was aimed at superblue91 and Pigeonho who think it's been ungrateful to our owners to question a signing because quite clearly I don't know I'm born. I've been hugely positive about our owners, but it shouldn't translate to not questioning anything the club now does, including signings. I am pretty sick of people who want Rooney signed trying to act like truer fans simply because you want Rooney signed. I do not hold the opposite opinion - that those who want him signed are lesser fans. With me, it's about the football. I'm not convinced Tevez and Rooney are a good partnership, having played together at the rags for two seasons, scoring an average of 21.5 league goals combined a season - less than either of them individually last season. Bearing that in mind, I'd expect another signing like Dzeko, a player a bit more removed from the Tevez mould, to be more effective. I'll set out my criteria by which I will judge this signing to be a success. Less than 37 goals; failure. More than 45; success. 37-45; no-man's land and could have been easily achieved by other means. So, come and judge me about it in May 2012. As for the marketing and profile reasons for signing him, I'll trust our club to do their sums on that. Does Rooney bring more money in that he costs in wages, signing on bonus and/or transfer fees? If he does, fair enough, the club should do what's in its financial best interests and stick their fingers up at the football argument.

The big thing with Rooney is hes a ruthless fucker, and a ruthless fucker of a striker is perhaps the most valuable asset at a football club-hes got the bollocks to stick the middle finger up at Old Toilet, jump over the fence at Carrington and throw bottles of blue piss back over it.

Nope.

If we buy Rooney, we can call ourselves United.

Like it? No, I didn't think so.

In my view we can delete 44 pages, and lock the thread with just this post above remaining.

Well said that man. Summed it all up perfectly.

No.

Sums up your opinion perfectly.

Wrong. This is the official "We don't want Wayne Rooney" thread.

Also, did you not read my "in my view"?

No, I don't think its being ungrateful, I just think its not wanting whats best for the team/club/the rest of the fans when there are people questioning about us signing one of the best players in the world which, whether people like it or not, he is. People once got excited about signing Bob Taylor, simply because of how he handled us for Gillingham. Now though we have the chance, (allegedly), to sign Wayne Rooney and people are questioning it, and some even saying they'll walk away from the club if we do!!!!!!

It might be the "official" we don't want Rooney thread, but I'm happy to sit here and go toe to toe with all comers in it. In fact I'm enjoying it.

I definately dont want him at city. For me I honestly believe Tevez is a better player for us what has he got 27 goals in 28 games or something ?

TEvez left the rags as they played Rooney every week instead of him. Same sort of player I am happy with Tevez. PIg boy can fuck off to spain or whatever I dont want hima t city.
