The Pelicot trial

This is almost too shocking to get my head around it , the ex getting 20 yrs was what her team asked for , he will die in jail

51 men have been found guilty and have hefty sentences. 30 more from the videos are yet to be identified . The men came to court with masks and hoodies on , cowards

2 men went to the house thinking they were swingers but when they saw she was unconscious they left . They didnt report it to the police , cunts

The french police are not interested in rape cases and the courts throw out nearly all of them , this is why this lady decided to show who she and the men are , for herself but to try and further the cause of womens rights

She got several STI's and couldnt understand why , she also thought she might have dementia that was causing her to blackout all the time . The husband was apparantly a good and loving husband to her, i suppose to pretend to her and the family that they had a normal relationship

Apart from her family being blown apart all the families of the men that raped her must be the same

Her case has got the French political class demanding stronger laws to avoid anyone else suffering like she did. Hopefully they will push them through and name them after her.

Hope so too

There is a french legal lady on sky saying that 94% of rape claims are dismissed by police and the legal definition of rape needs to change

Also said that the husbands defence lawyers put foward that she went along with it . Shocking attitude in a country like france

Was aware of this case but until today hadn't read up on it in detail. Utterly horrific and hard to comprehend....one of those where you just want to say lock 'em up and throw away the key. Sincerely hope the law changes for the better...understandably, criticism that some of the guilty were given as little as 5 years too.

Vile, depraved people.

Paying to rape an unconscious, drugged 60-odd year old woman who some thought was “consenting”.

Brave woman fighting back in court, losing anonymity and dignity, in the hope that the case will spread more awareness.

Such a vile, disgusting case. Hard to comprehend what she has been through, but she is a remarkable woman for showing such bravery and dignity throughout the trial. Glad that justice has been served, although perhaps harsher punishments were merited.

The punishments presumably are short because the perpetrators are so old? Surely If the husband was 42 not 72 he’d not be getting out in 20 years.

Apparently the maximum sentence for rape in France is 20 years, but some of the other culprits got away with lesser sentences.

I would NOT say she LOST her dignity, I would say she RECLAIMED it, by showing she was not what they did to her, but far, far more than that!
