The poisoned pen and the damage done

Its getting beyond a joke now and even Mancini is getting sarcastic with the media. As the OP says it does harm us as the daft fkers believe this shit. Got a txt on sunday saying WORSE FANS IN COUNTRY BOOING AT HALF TIME, EMPTY SEATS , BLAH BLAH BLAH. Fight back City, enough of this soft approach. Im big enough to fend off these slurs and its not hard to put people right but i feel for the kids at school who take shit for all these false media lies . Ban em City.

But the problem here is that we even had a City fan making a thread about the fact (incorrectly by the way) that we were booing the players, when indeed it was the officials.

I read some newspaper circulation figures in the Observer at the weekend. It was the figures for the 12 months to October 2012 and nearly all of them were down 12%. I think the FT and maybe the Indie were the only ones to eke out a gain

They are dying and maybe that's what lies behind their desperation for readers - and they perceive those readers to be Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal fans or generally football fans who are envious of City

The trouble is who and what replaces the newspaper industry. It might not lead to an improvement

Why?

Isn't the whole point of a football discussion board to discuss everything about your football club.

What is the big taboo about discussing a media article about your club?

What else will people have to moan about then and debate with their fellow Blue Mooners ? ;)

Ignore what?

I don't read the papers full stop.

Read the news and sports reports online. If any story says alleged, reportedly, sources say etc more than once I generally stop reading it. You can almost guarantee that other teams are being treated the same - just that City are big news Fulham or Reading aren't and don't feature as often as we do.

I didn't post in the other thread because it would have been pointless.
People there were more willing to just dismiss this article as a bit off fun. If it was, then what was the point?

No matter what the point was, it has to be at least be accurate or some basis of truth. It was neither so needed dealing with. Like celeb pictures where a freeze frame can make anyone appear drunk (we need to blink etc), doesn't give a paper freedom to print that is what "exactly" "appeared" to be the case.
How can you state that that is "exactly" what happened, and then have "appeared" in the same sentence? It's either one or the other.
The harm done may seem trivial. But to a wider less informed audience abroad it could be more damaging. The article could given the impression that we were boring to watch, and that Mancini wasn't very professional or interested. Why that should matter, maybe lost on us. But as a business and global brand it does. The bottom line is that it was nothing more than a cheap shot based on a freeze frame, of a reaction to a missed shot. The journalist involved would have been fully aware of the timing of the shot, yet chose to misrepresent it to further his own needs for a witty headline.
As much as I hate to say it. But I'm beginning to see why fergie takes such a tough stance with the press. Let them have a inch, and they take a mile etc...

you're missing the point. Prolonged and sustained lies across the media will hit their mark.
Next time you're on holiday and the taxi driver regales you with made up shit about City you'll end up putting him straight, he#ll then try and overcharge you cos you've pissed him off. This in turn will piss you off and a stand up row will ensue, resulting in you getting a twatting off the local fuzz. And that you can't ignore.

The Weather?
X Factor?
Thatcher not dying yet?
The relative merits of Rosie or Tina out of Corrie?
What film you last saw?

etc etc ad infinitum.......

I have emailed Vicky Kloss to ask her why these twats aren't being banned. The journo scum lay off the rags and Bacon because they get banned from the swamp at the drop of a hat.
Why are these twats being allowed to dis the fans, the manager and the club on a daily basis?

"For the undivided attention of Victoria Kloss, media slag for MCFC

Before reading this message, please make sure that no rag twats have access to your computer coz I have it on authority that the people in your office are all well connected rag shitbags.

I have in my possession, a weeks worth of rubbish bags that I collected from the Worsley home of Ryan c**t Giggs. And I can inform you in no uncertain terms that his wife, Stacey, doesn't recycle milk bottles or newspapers, when there are clearly recycling bins (pictured) that have been provided by Salford council. I look forward to seeing this story printed in all of the countries newspapers by wednesday, or I will be informing Tolmies Hairdo about how you consistantly ignore my rag investigations and revelations that are absolutley newsworthy and equally as important, not to mention Darren twatface Fletcher not giving his window cleaner a xmas tip in 2009.

Yours Pam Nolan"

This would have worked as a parody if it were based on some semblance of fact. But it isn't, so it doesn't. This isn't how humour works.

Must try harder.

Also, the bashers on here have always been with us. They used to bombard the air waves with arguments about how Sam Allardyce would never leave Bolton Wanderers for City and Aston Villa was a far bigger club then MCFC. They have the whine compulsion. They can't wait to put our club down at every opportunity. I wish they would
