The Post Pep Blues?

I think he will have a two year rest. I wouldn’t count out him coming back then though
I’m not the only one then! I said yesterday he’ll have a year off with family, a couple of years off, then a situation will happen where city need him and he’ll need to come back.

What is it they say? Don’t be sad it’s over, be happy it happened?

Either way, I’m not sad. All good things come to an end and I think the club will go even more forward with whoever the new man is. It’s not like everything grinds to a halt now Pep has gone. It’s a progression.
Yes, and I don't think there's a club better placed than us to deal with something like this. Time for a new chapter.

Driving home last night I felt incredibly sad. I realised it wasn’t just because of pep it was because it truly is the end of an era.

That whole 10 year period watching some of the best players we have ever had playing under pep guardiola. Wow. It really was fucking fun.

The players weren’t just elite on the pitch they really had such great personalities. It was lightening in a bottle.

I realised I’m sad because it will likely never be as good and these players have mostly moved on now.

What a ride

Totally agree with this. We have had a fucking incredible 10 years and in all honesty, Pep looked completely ready to go and for a long break.

It’s actually incredibly exciting times ahead with the young talent we have in a completely transformed squad and a manager coming in who hopefully is well positioned to take things on after Pep.

I'm strangely ok with it, so far today at least. I think now it's done, helped by the wet lettuce of a performance in the second half yesterday, makes me realise we have to move forward. If pep himself is suggesting he's not the best person to get us results and trophies next season, then it's clear for us.

Maresca will have a 3 year deal. Realistically he'll have one year to win something and/or show we are strong contenders. If it's going wrong, results aren't coming and the team aren't pulling for him, then he'll be replaced. If not, then we'll be on course for success.

If, very speculatively, one year on from now we've struggled for top half and are all over the shop, I wouldn't discount pep returning if Enrique or Vinny aren't available. But I have trust that Enzo will work well for us. He got plaudits at Leicester and got a tune out of Chelsea, and look at how both of those basket cases have gone on without him!
Gonna miss Pep obviously but Maresca won Chelski 100m with the Club World Cup which they hold for 4 years for great PR,and we were knocked out by a Saudi League outfit in a comp i haf high hopes for.
Couple of high class additions we will cook.

I’ve woke up sound.

It’s done. Crack on and immerse myself in the next chapter.
Ooh if only it was that easy, 20 secs in had to turn it off, will go back to it later, maybe :-)

As a Foc you'd think, man up, get over it, stop being ridiculous it's only football - again if only it was that easy.

Have a good idea for a new tattoo though -

It was time for a change, and change is the only constant in life

In terms of what i think will happen on the pitch; i don't think any team in the league is head and shoulders above us, and if you ignore Arsenal, I dont think any of the teams below us are knocking on our door in terms of matching us over a 38 game season

When Ferguson left United, we were clearly about to become top dog with arguably the best manager in charge

This is different, again Arsenal aside, the other sides are largely in disarray

3 or 4 very good additions on the pitch will see us compete again next season

My feelings exactly and im genuinely excited again for whats to come.

I think people forget we played some sublime football under Mancini and Pellegrini and we can do it again.

The morning after losing the FA Cup final in 81 to Tottenham was the worst I've ever felt following City. It floored me as a 15 yr old and my world felt like it had come to an end.

Waking up this morning It felt strange that its now all over and it brought back memories of how that 15yr old boy felt. Im now 60 and Manchester City still have the ability to trespass on my emotions.

However this time I don't feel floored and the world hasn't come to an end and yes there is plenty of optimism and expectation for the future. We lost the cup in 81 and there was no winning it back. Yesterday and today we are saying goodbye to our greatest ever decade and manager and it hurts, but the future is still blue!
Wow, you sparked some memories for me there. I was 9 then, too young to remember the league cup of 76 (I suspect you remember that?). What followed was 30 years of relegation, promotion, false hope, despair, Fergie’s United before we were back there to put things right. I think we can confidently say it won’t be like that!

And a good manager.

I've always said players come and go, managers come and go, owners come and go. Whereas us fans are a constant. No team dominates for ever.

The time was right for Pep to leave us. We've still got great owners, and have had the privilege of 10 years of absolute domination of the PL, witnessing things we never thought we'd see. If we never win another trophy, that's fine by me, as I've got the memories of Wembley in 2011, the Aguero moment, the 2014 League & League Cup double, a further 6 PL titles, Istanbul, 100 points, the domestic quadruple and the Treble.

Before Pep we saw the first trophy in 35 years. I'm nervously excited about what the next few years brings.

Well with that assumption we've nothing to worry about at all, Arsenal have not got our number, beaten them twice and a draw is testament to that this season
