Exciting stuff in Catalunya today :)

What an effort from the Brummie Dan Martin, that's going to go down as one of the rides of the year, tremendous stuff!

Yeah great stuff.

Wont ruin it for people wanting to watch the highlights

I want a City cycling shirt!

How about a City backed cycling team? I think our blue livery would sit quite nicely in the peloton. Although we’d have to boycott the Vuelta or any other race that uses a red jersey..hmm this may need to be reconsidered.

Actually I wonder what a City TDF team would be like.

GC Contender/ Team Leader: Milner
Sprinter: Aguero
Lead out man: Kolorov
Workers on the flat: Rodwell, Kompany, Nasty
Mountain goats: Clichy, Silva, Zabba (lots of kamikaze solo efforts)

In other news it sounds like Stannard followed up his weekend efforts with another impressive and aggressive ride on the cobbles today.

Catalunya was pretty disappointing, none of them seemed to want to try anything. A 13k climb with no action till the final kilometre. Very impressive sprint from Quintana though. Let’s see what tomorrow brings.

Would you have Mancini in the Brailsford role :)

Now now Rascal, I've quite happy in my little bubble floating past those threads upstairs, don't go bringing them into this tranquil safe haven!

*looks around* but as the coast appears to be clear..... yeah of course I would, I'd even name the team after him! 'Mansoor-Mancini City Cycling' has a nice continental ring to it.

Sky have top riders everywhere don't they?!
Just looking at the calendar and the racing comes thick & fast at this time of year doesn't it; be really interested to see how Corsica looks in advance of TDF this weekend for the Criterium there. Apparently Contador withdrawn with flu; anyone know if Froome is involved ??

Froome and Porte are certainly supposed to be riding it, I haven't read anything to suggest that plan's changed.

Thanks very much for that vid Rascal, I'd read the finish was very exciting, good to actually see it.

Its brutal aint it and great to see Stannard go so well

I havent seen racing like it before, they are riding in the gutter to stay of the cobbles.

Just wish Eurosport would cover it and explain what was going on.

This is Sky's team according to the team sky site

Ian Boswell, Joe Dombrowski, Chris Froome, Vasil Kiryienka, Richie Porte, Kanstantsin Siutsou, Jonathan Tiernan-Locke, Xabier Zandio

Thanks pal (guess I should've looked myself!)
I'm guessing that'll be the basis of sky's TdF team, with the Giro team at the Catalunya at the moment.
Can only see it listed for Sunday tv, but I thought it was a 2 day event.
Will enjoy watching it anyway - especially if it's sub-zero round here

I have no idea what the TDF team will be as Brad is going for the Giro and i imagine he will have the best team around him for that.

Not looked at the TV for the Crit but the guy who posted the vid on you tube i posted before seems to have posted every race this season so worth a follow

Apparently Sky are currently re-thinking the line up's they originally had planned for both tours, because so many of their riders are showing strong form.

I'd still expect the tour line up to be something like: Froome, Wiggins, Porte, Thomas, EBH, Stannard, Henao, Kiryenka, Sioutsou

while the Giro perhaps might be: Wiggins, Uran, Lopez, Cataldo, Kennaugh, Dombrowski, Knees, Swift, Pate.

Of course there's a chance there may be more crossover with say Henao riding both.

Tour Of Britain dates/stages announced.

2013 Tour of Britain route:
Stage One: Sunday, 15 September - Peebles to Drumlanrig Castle (201km)
Stage Two: Monday, 16 September - Carlisle to Kendal (225km)
Stage Three: Tuesday, 17 September - Knowsley Individual Time Trial (16km)
Stage Four: Wednesday, 18 September - Stoke-on-Trent to Llanberis (190.9km)
Stage Five: Thursday, 19 September - Machynlleth to Caerphilly (177.1km)
Stage Six: Friday, 20 September - Sidmouth to Haytor, Dartmoor (137km)
Stage Seven: Saturday, 21 September - Epsom to Guildford (150.4km)
Stage Eight: Sunday, 22 September - The London Stage (88km)

I re-watched yesterdays stage finish again this morning. What an awesome ride from Martin. He rode that 20k climb completely on his own, yes he had other riders with him at points but none of them took a pull on the front. I kept expecting him to flag but he never did, just kept riding up there at a cracking tempo. Anyone who can finish 40 or so seconds ahead of Purito and Quintana on any mountain top finish deserves enormous praise. Ride of a lifetime Dan. Hope he can keep the overall now.
