The Pro Road Cycling Thread

I'd be surprised if Merlier won. He had a crash on Saturday. Bang to the knees and sprained ankle by all accounts.

Today is a lottery. Shitty weather, sprint trains approaching a descent near the finish and then coming off it....

Very good sprint field but it could be attritional if the weather is bad. In that case, it could be a more durable rider like Mads Pedersen who wins. If it's not attritional and sketchy, I would fancy Ewan or Demare. Demare will need his train but not sure they will be together by the bottom of the descent. Hope for Cav though.
As i was saying Merlier has to be worth a small wager :))

What a stage, that was insane. For what looked a pretty straight forward sprint stage it was fantastic, the TdF never fails to excite.

haha I just logged on to apologise.

Think it may have been very different if not for the crashes but I guess that doesn't matter.

That was carnage. Narrow roads and high pace. I thought there would be issues. Imagine how bad it would have been if it was wet, as was a risk according to a forecast.

No need to apologise :))

He just looked overpriced. Certainly was fortunate it wasn't raining in the last 50km as well because it was crazy enough as it was.

Cyclists carry on with dislocated shoulders, scraped everything and blood everywhere. Footballers shout and scream at the slightest touch.

That was carnage today, I have never seen a stage like it. Is it a case of lack of racing for some of the riders? They are usually so skilled at avoiding accidents.

Can you imagine a footballer having his shoulder put back in its socket and than carry on playing ?
