As much as lefevere is a class A dickhead it was known pretty much at the start of the season it was going to be Jakobsen for the sprinters role.

Feel for Cav but when you sleep with dogs..........
 
In the cold light of day it probably was the right decision. You have to keep looking forward and keep the team as strong as possible a la Pep. It would have been more respectful to have told him before the team was announced though.

Why couldn’t they go with both sprinters? 8 places in the team. They were/are only ever gonna contest the sprint stages, unless someone better informed is going to tell me they are stacked full of GC contenders.
Cav’s level of motivation to secure that one more win would have been insane, and I think he would have. Shite decision.
 
Tell ya, I genuinely wouldn’t wish ill will on any rider, but let’s say Jakobsen goes down in a melee on stage 1 and is out of the tour; scenes …

They rarely take two big dog sprinters. Lefevere actually was in two minds about a new contract for Cav, his treatment of Bennett stank as well, he’s a **** but as I said Cav knew what he was getting into.

Just seen Alaphilippe didn’t make it so it’s even more odd.

I’m not disagreeing on the kind of bloke he is mate, you’re right. But even though it might be rarely done historically, I genuinely think the circumstances this year warranted it. And I’m not just saying it cos it’s a British rider; anyone else who was in his position in terms of number of stages I’d say it for

The writing was on the Italian wall. As soon as he was down to ride the Giro, he wasn’t doing Le Grand Boucle. Absolutely no surprise at all. And he knows it.
 
Cutting it fine there Fabio, didn’t see him till the last millisecond!
How good is WVA though? I’d love to see him at another team, away from Roglic so he could mount a GC challenge of his own. He’s the only rider in the Peleton at the moment I could see going for green and yellow in the same race!
