The Pro Road Cycling Thread

Nothing official yet apparently, but seems to be an open secret that Mark Cavendish has managed to secure a deal for next season with Astana. No big fan of Vino to put it mildly, but really pleased he’s got sorted after the collapse of his previous team.

Was put in mind of him after seeing Spoty the other night, and recalling just how long ago it was that he won it.

If he can get just that one more elusive TDF stage win - and let’s face it, there won’t be a more motivated athlete on the planet - he’ll enter the realms of cycling immortality.

Looking forward to next season’s delights already.

with a team such as Astana (and their not inconsiderable budget) behind him there’s every chance he’ll get that 1 stage win. Really hope so.
 
Season “officially” started for me yesterday with OHN - fantastic solo performance from Dylan van Barle. Fabulous to see those shots of the riders sprinting for and then squeezing into the tight 90 degree turns, and hammering up the cobbled climbs - always a sign Spring is here.
Part 2 today with KBK which should be good too.

Meanwhile a good race in UAE this morning with Adam Yates pipping Remco by 10 seconds in the last stage of their tour, but Remco taking the overall.

Superb to have pro-cycling back.

If anyone needs their calendar marking, we have the race of the white roads, Strade Bianchi next Saturday, and then the first Monument of the season Milan San Remo two weeks after that :-)

It was and thanks for letting us know it was on otherwise I would have missed it.
It’s weird though because completely out of the blue, somehow I had a dream about him last night (I am a woman), but not that kind of dream and then to read the thread, it was probably meant to be that he’d win today. Great win it was too;)
