The Pro Road Cycling Thread

I'm not convinced, I really hope he is after the fucking disgraceful era that was Armstrong
Yes there is no proof, so it really is a belief, nothing more. In my opinion though we must give them the benefit of the doubt. If we don't we, well I, cannot watch and enjoy that sport.
I think they are taking everything to the extreme limits, including nourishment and medicaments. On the other hand Vingegaard and his wife made some very strong statement, which in Danish sounded very believable to me. He said he does not eat or take anything he would not give his daughter. Strong statement, innit?

You think it's clean or you don't.
Which is it?

Sorry to barge in but if we are talking about doping in sport it, baffles me that football seems to be so clean.

If a rider did a Leicester a one season wonder the cycling press/media would be all over it. The press/media would be investigating rider 100% , yet in football it's a fairly tail. Yet to me Leicester seems dodgy, they running states were of the scale compared to the season before and after their winning season. In fact they were close to getting our record of being relegated as champions lol
Same goes if a cycle team only seems to perform in cycles ie good for two seasons than the third season not so good. Rinse and repeat abit like liverpool.

I know some footballers do get caught Ferdinand, Pogba etc I'm just surprised it isnt more a team thing.

The amount of times the rags under taggart would score in fergie time when the other team were dead on their feet. Rags still playing at 100mph ! Same with liverpool both clubs seem to have cycles but liverpool cycle stands out more because the drop off is huge . Rags always managed to stay in the top 3, dippers mid table.

I know people like to think cycling is all about doping and people look down on it. To me cycling is probably the cleanest. Yes cyclist get caught, the leader of a tour is tested at least once a day, how often our footballers checked ?
I think I saw somewhere that it might be twice a year but not sure on that.

Well, Happy New Year one and all. Tour Down Under soon to start, Tues next week, and off we go once again.
I must admit I only consider the proper start to the season to be the European opener OHN Feb 24th though. Just thought it would be useful to post how the big 4 seem to be carefully planning to avoid each other till July.
Not ideal for the sport if I’m honest.

Some mind blowing stuff on stage 2 of the Tour Down Under last night. He’s a new rider to me, but not anymore. Isaac Del Toro - gonna be a real point of interest this coming season if he can reproduce surges like this!!

Well, today’s the day :-))

Start of the European road racing season “proper” for many, and the start in my mind too.

Omloop Het Nieuwsblad today and Kuurne Brussels Kuurne tomorrow. Both on Discovery/Eurosport or the usual online places.

Yep but for some reason I cant find it in me to want ineos to do well !!

Just flicking through YouTube. I've seen this before but it's still amazing !!

Absolutely marvellous stuff!

As for Ineos, I know what you mean though I’ll still find it hard not to support British riders they have though.

As far as this season goes, I’m all over TeamABV this year (anyone but Visma).

I love watching Pog, Remco, MvdP, Pidcock etc but I find it very hard to love Vingegaard.

Het Volk was always the cue to start getting properly excited. That and Etoiles de Besseges.
