Maybe we could emulate Alpe D'huez' famous dutch corner and have a 'Bluemoon corner' when the tour hits Yorkshire.

Im hoping they use the drag up into the town centre past my mates pub in the final run in.

She is a Blue and im sure all Blues would be welcome to watch from there as we could follow on the TV and nip out for the ride past whilst having a few beers :)

Watching it? At the rate you're picking up the sport you'll be riding in the thing! ;-)

I couldnt swing my leg over an old girls crossbar less bike mate LOL

BTW todays Dauphine stage was a good one. Froomey and Porte both look really strong and good to see Thomas and Kennaugh right up there. Kennaugh is 5th in the white jersey standings and it would be great to se him take that, although i know it will be low priority as they want yellow for Froomey for sure.

Im planning on staying on my mates sofa, she lives in Harrogate :)

Loads of campsites out there, but have a look around Bolton Abbey. Thats inbetween Skipton and Harrogate. And im sure many local farmers will be renting out plots in there fields for it.[/quote]

Thanks for that.
Need somewhere with showers tho' - taking the missis. She wouldn't put up with a farmers field.
:p

Decent mileage that Judge. Much maintenance required commuting 90 miles a week? I assume youre using the road bike for it? I've dabbled the odd day, but I'm a bit fair weather when it comes to starting a bike ride (dont mind once i'm already out).

Fellas, on a different note, has anyone made any plans for the yorkshire tour days yet?
Been looking recently and it looks like most of the county is booked up already; I suppose I should have got my act together more quickly. Harrogate is the one place it looks possible to see both days from (they must obviously have someone of influence who has Prudhomme's ear).

At the moment I'm looking at Buttertubs Hill near Hawes for the Saturday, and Holme Moss just outside Holmefirth for the Sunday, both look the best climbs on each day.
Tbh, from a spectator point of view I'd have preferred a TT as you get the riders coming past over the space of between 1 and 3 hours (although on tv TTs are not that exciting imho), but these should be good.
I'd expect the Moss to be like a mini Alp with spectators.

Both days will be long, but i dont think I'll be camping out there days in advance Apl D'Huez style!

Anyone else got any plans?

Thought I'd give this earlier post of mine a bump seeing as there's a bit of Yorkshire chat going on.

Is Holme Moss the cimb upto the TV station ( if it is that going towards to Ladybower) ?

And is Butterhubs hill the one by the Wenslydale factory in Hawes?

Yes mate for Hawes. Holme Moss is the climb out from Holmefirth up & over to the reservoir. It's Woodhead area rather than Ladybower/snake pass.
Looking at some of the cycling press they mention these 2.
I think Holme on the Sunday may be more significant; Sunday is the bumpier day, it's a bigger climb, and it comes after about 4/5ths of the days race distance.

Thanks for the comments. In terms of maintenance, I'm always cleaning the bike, wet roads and its caked in shite. There is an intermittent clicking which I'm trying to eliminate and I've had 3 punctures in 900 miles. I will probably replace them with Specialized Armadillos before winter for increased protection. Other than that I love the bike.
I'm not on Strava because I haven't got an iPhone/android phone for the app.

The intermittent clicking can be a couple of things, if you are using clip in pedals sometimes they can click and make random noises another area to look at is the bottom bracket which are notorious for clicking and although I suspect yours are sealed shimano bearings its not uncommon for theses to have issues, with £30 quids worth of tools changing a BB is a simple job, I prefer the BB 30 system on my bikes as its a 25 min job to change the bearings.

Spec Armadillos are a good winter choice also very good are Conti 4 seasons, very fast but after a full winter on cycling not a sniff of a puncture then its Conti 4000's for the summer

Thanks mate. Took the bike back to Cooksonscycles in Whitefield and they narrowed it down to loose bolts on the rear derailleur hanger! I think they've cracked it. Top bike shop. Thanks for the tyre suggestions.

I meant Woodhead and got mixed up. That is quite steep both sides and can get very windy over the top there. I stopped off up there early one morning for a brew and a fag on my way to Holmefirth to work on LOTSW.

Great to see EBH win today after a brilliant lead out from Thomas. My bloody aussie stream crashed at the red kite but i managed to get it back for the replay.

Just looked at the Yorkshire route. The climb out of Hebden Bridge to Haworth looks a toughie too.

Yes, it was a great finish - but it looked like Thomas almost got in his way.
Been a bit busy so today was my first day watching this race, but I've just read they are doing the mighty Alp on Saturday - this really is the dry run for the tour isn't it.

I have never been to Holme Moss; hoping to have a reccy there this summer. If its that breezy hopefully that will be mostly on the (flat) top, and it'll be a bit more sheltered on the climb. Certainly hope so anyway, as I think it'll mean spending a long day up there waiting for the riders to arrive
