Disappointed to miss the Tour De Suisse stage but glad to see Edmonson and Dombrowski went well. No signs of life from Andy Schleck? How did Pinot look?

Tough stage today.

Brilliant win by Sagan, Frank into yellow, Kreuziger 2nd Costa 3rd Pinot 5th and Schleck was dropped early on the final climb and is 78th at 21.14. The commentators were talking about Schleck missing the tour and perhaps having a go at the Vuelta as he is so far from any sort of form. Hejsdal retired after a crash ended up with him in hospital. Scarponi went down and lost 6.45 on the stage.

JTL is 123rd at over 30 mins showing no form at all. Never even spotted him on the two climbs i saw.

Out of interest, what are cyclists top speeds on their bikes?
On my former Trek I managed 43.6 coming down into Rossendale valley last summer, which I think will be pretty modest by comparison. When I get the chance to get out I think I'll beat that on the new bike.
A mate stated 54mph flat out on his full carbon.

I once did 48mph coming down Countisbury Hill into Lynton on a sunny November morning.

I don't mind admitting I probably looked a bit like Phil Jones as I reached the bottom of the hill and entered the village at considerable speed.

Really interesting thread (well I thought so anyway) on cyclingnews.

Thanks for that pal.

Had a bit of a read of the forum. They dont appear to like to like Sky do they :)

Haha yeah you could say that! There are one or two supporters to be fair, but in the main there is a great deal of antipathy towards Sky - some of it understandable and justified, other instances not so much.

It's a strange place, in so much as cycling by it's very nature is charachterised by wholly intangible factors, yet a large proportion of the posters seem to love nothing more than passing judgment with absolute conviction about what is going to happen - then after the event never acknowledging they got it wrong, simply starting the cycle (no pun intended) again.

If you think Sky get a hard time on the main forum read 'the clinic' section. In there every person who has ever owned a bike is a serial drug cheat! Again though, being fair, there is a lot of interesting, informative and well researched debate in both sections.

I clocked 48.6 coming down from the Formentor lighthouse in Majorca last year but to be honest I was glad I was spinning out (was riding a compact) It felt a lot faster

Managed a nice 43 on Huddersfield Road into Denshaw on Sunday that descent is a corker, good lines of sight, decent road surface and not massively technical.

Has anybody else done any cycling in Majorca? I have done the last two years and it is the most brilliant place to cycle, great roads, patient drivers, stunning climbs and off course fast descents topped off with good grub and drink.

Should be a good day at the Tour De Suisse today. I'm picking Pinot for the win.

You watching Rascal? Andy Schelck is looking very smooth, could be an interesting development.

-- Fri Jun 14, 2013 4:02 pm --

...and then he gets dropped.
