Nibali as rider of the year ahead of Froome? Froome spent large parts of the Tour riding on his own, or in a pair, against whole teams yet still came out on top in the GC. What he did was nothing short of incredible. Nibali has had a very good year but Froome's efforts in the Tour would more than enough make him the undisputed rider of the year IMO.

It was very tough to split them, but for me Nibali takes it. He won the Giro in difficult conditions, runner up in a grueling Vuelta, beat an exceptionally strong Froome in Tirreno-Adriacto, and was also right in the mix for big one day races like today's World Championship, Milan San Remo and the Ardennes. Froome had a tremendous season, but I think his Sky support was generally stronger than Nibali had at Astana, so Vincenzo gets it in my eyes.

Haha I forgot about that Seasideblue, that was brilliant!

Fantastic post mate. Ive so so enjoyed our cycling threads and learnt so much so thanks to all of you for the patience you have showed and knowledge you have shared. Im a proper cycling fan now who loves it thanks to you guys mostly.

Im very pleased to win the Fanboy award because its the reason i started watching and for years i would never have watched bike racing because us brits were never involved. I wish so much had watched earlier btw but you cant change thngs.

I loved the Vuelta , loved the Tour too for fanboy reasons but Sky domnated the Tour and the Vuelta was far more open.

Early season loved seeing Porte winning Paris-Nice but also loved seeing Nibali win Tirreno Adraticcio especally on tthat day with the 33% climb

I also loved the TOB with Cav makng hay and Brad winnng and there being an estimated 250.000 on haytor. If Brit cyclng is to improve we need this more and more.

My rider of the year is the Dawg and my fave stage was Ventoux when he just blew everyone away and yes im a fanboy :))

I do like riders from other countries, Degenkolb and EBH. but i want Brit wins or Brit team mates wins

Kennaugh will be great soon

You don't have to say thank you Rascal, you contribute just as much as the rest of us. No shame in being a fanboy either, it's what the sport is all about, finding riders or teams you can identify with.

Bad day for British Cycling at the worlds yesterday, don't think Wiggo particularly covered himself in glory really in this instance. They'll bounce back though, the future still looks very bright.

Team of the year probably Orica GreenEdge for me, they have been at it in every race they have been in with some great results and the AC/DC parody vid is the clincher.

Race and ride of the year has to be the Milan San Remo won by Ciolek, just brutal

Gutting feeling of the year: Seeing Tony Martin get caught a couple of meters from the line after time trialing a 100k solo breakaway and protecting a 15 sec lead with about 8k to go, he just didn't deserve to lose.

The how and why does he keep doing it award: Same as last year Big Jens Voigt the guys a marvel.

I only caught the end of that stage and until your post I didn't realise he'd gone from that far out! Handy bit of training for the worlds TT that was then.

Got to love Orica, but I think their Call Me Maybe vid was better - pulling the moves mid race and on the podium was brilliant.
