I have no idea mate. Maybe better asking in the non-pro cycling thread.

Sadly the Alonso/Euskatel deal has collapsed. Going to be lots of riders on the market this winter with the changes at Radioshack and Vacansoleil going under.

Here we go, road race time, should be a corker!

Bad news for Tiernan-Locke this morning, though at the same time it could be good news for SKY.

At work so will have to have it on the radio, think it'll be tough for GB today. Cancellara for me,but you never know.

Don't know much about JTL but, during the time these irregularities occured,I believe he was riding for Endura & won 3 quite big races
on the bounce. That alone is bound to set alarm bells ringing. I also didn't realise he was 28,thought he was an up & coming kid.
Not good news for him,if he has been indulging!

Gutted for Purito, how many times can one man come 2nd!! Can't really fathom what Valverde was thinking in not following Costa, it must surely be that he didn't have the legs because otherwise he's messed up tactically yet again.

Regarding JTL, I read that he has suffered from Chronic Fatigue in the recent past. It's a condition I've struggled with the last seven years, and through my own dealings with medical specialists I'm aware that one of it's characteristics is that sufferers tend to display irregular blood patterns, especially when the condition is at it's severest. It's perfectly possible therefore that the vigorous training scheme SKY have him on has triggered a mini re-lapse and that his blood readings are strange but for above board reasons. That would of course also account for his significant drop in performance. I don't blame the UCI for asking questions though, it's good that they have and absolutely understandable, but fingers crossed he's innocent.

I wanted Purito to win as well. What a hard days riding that was though.

As for JTL its a strange one, if he has medical back up then he should be ok, but it does seem weird he did so well last year and has dropped off this year, at a better financed and sourced team. I'm glad Cookson was elected head of the UCI, he will take anti doping even further than it currently is, which can only be good for the integrity of the sport.

Absolutely, that's why I don't blame the UCI for investigating. From what I've read today when he was at Endura he wouldn't have been subject to the blood passport (would only have bloods taken when winning races), where as now he's at World Tour level he obviously is. When you couple that with the dramatic drop off in performance, it's only right they take a close look. I'm hopeful though that he may be genuine and it just perhaps the over training that has left his tank empty, because from my own experience I do think that's believable.

This is where the blood values things is difficult though. CFS is a condition that even specialists in the field are still struggling to understand, so in that sense it's a ready made excuse for someone who wants to mask or explain away blood doping. Froome's Bilharzia would fit in to the same category. That's not to say that either Chris or Jon are lying, just that it's possible people can cite these conditions safe in the knowledge that it's difficult for medics to say 'nope that's implausible'. Then you have Horner's blood details that he released last work; more informed eyes than me seem to feel they are very suspicious but because they fit within the wide parameters they are deemed acceptable. Don't get me wrong the blood passport is a good thing and I'm glad cycling utilise it but it's far from fool proof and I hope Cookson does do whatever he can to continue pushing for the best and most rounded anti doping controls.

That's virtually it for the season now, just Lombardia of any note to go really. I'll do my end of season awards this week :)

Mystery viruses, tropical diseases and bacterial infections are the way forward for doping your tits off then.

Cookson wants completely independent testing, something that has to help things, no hope of anyone at the UCI covering things up again if they have nothing to do with it (other than funding WADA or whoever to do the testing)

Following my fantasy league win, i am hopeful of winning the 'Bluemoon cycling expert award' this season ;-)

Really enjoyed todays race and thought Rui Costa rode tactically brilliant. Was dissapponted not to see EBH at the end as he had done so well to stay in touch all race with only 2 team mates. Also felt for Uran crashing when he did as looked strong. No Brits eben gettng to the last 50kms was dissapointng too.

As for JTL I hope he is cleared and is clean. I dont know much about doping but i like Shands suffer from huge blood irregularities all the time due to my medical problems and subscribed meds. My docs cant explain mine they just shove cameras everywhere and test me for everything they have heard off lol

Im looking to the awards. Hope i get neo-pro of the year :))

I dont mind Rui Costa, but would have rather Purito win, such a nearly man and a bit of a character as well. Uran's crash looked a bad one, didnt go back to him to see if he was ok, as it was near the end. I watched the start online and Wiggo was getting dogs abuse for dropping out on their live feed, too many jumped the gun i think, as it was soon revealed that all the others had dropped out too.

So that 2 of you now, claiming dodgy blood results, with a future mind on a grand tour now Horner has won no doubt, i wont be a witness for either of you if you win something down the line. Just so we are clear.

Fanboy of the year is your Rasc - as soon as you called Froome Dawg it was in the bag ;-)
