The (real) start of the end of Roberto ?

Bobby is ALWAYS lying. He tells at least two lies per press conference. And I don't care.

Daniel Taylor was at the meeting before training so knows what was said, OK.

Sorry but its made up to suit the eventual outcome, and its unlikely it will be denied on either side.

Ah you mean it doesn't suit your narrative so hence its bollocks

Daniel Taylor on the 12th January:

"There is a good reason why over the coming days and weeks you may hear Roberto Mancini maintaining the public line that Manchester City don't want to sell Mario Balotelli and will happily stick by him no matter how many times he brings the club and himself into disrepute.

The truth is something different. It is just that Mancini is schooled in football politics and understands very well that the first rule of selling is to have a strategy. Admitting that Balotelli is for sale would drive down his price. So a different version is offered for the cameras when, privately, City are already down to the nitty-gritty of talking about how much money they can get and who may possibly want him....."

You can read the rest on the Guardian site if you wish but you get the drift.

Over to you sweet cheeks
Ok thanks very much "sweet cheeks", obviously the media always know the full story, especially sweet daniel. What was I thinking to disbelieve such a reliable source, he's such a great investigative journalist.

In the real world jounalists hear stuff/make shit up, and for this reason I don't buy newspapers ever, and everything I read on their websites, I assume to be about as true as all McDonald's burgers contain 100% beef.

Daniel Taylor is a reasonably reliable source. The fact that he posts a predicted sequence of events that then turn out pretty much as predicted lends credence to his reporting on this issue.

This allied to the fact that talking up an asset you wish to sell in a very limited market, ie a single buyer, is Rule 1, Page 1 in the 'How To Sell Successfully And Attract Girls' manual, isn't doing Mr Taylor's report any harm either.

And no this thread doesn't qualify as relevant question for debate on a forum. Chimpanzees picking each others arses have come up with more relevant questions for debate than this.

Admittedly most threads on BM fail the Chimp arse test so don't be disheartened Mr. OP after all tomorrow is another day *cue fade, lead in closing music and that's a wrap darlings*

Can see where you're coming from but it has only made his position stronger IMO- the deal has been in the pipeline for 2 months mate, mario was being dressed down in front of the others on a regular basis, and rightly so, while this obviously made the mario/Mancini relationship die somewhat, it has ultimately earned bob huge respect from within!

Maybe if he took this stance from day one and didn't let him get away with murder when he first arrived it may never of come to this?

It's like letting a child get away with something a few times and then when you pull them on it they wonder why and start sulking.

I agree that his departure was best for all and we can now look forward and push on as a mature professional outfit without Mancini feeling the pressure of having to deal with the needy child he brought to the club all the time.

Just because you don't think it relevant doesn't make you right, thankfully, plenty of others have contributed, so I can't say I'm particularly arsed what you think, but thanks for letting me know.

Mario wasn't going anywhere until Milan (or another club) offered close to our asking price.

When Mancini said Mario wasn't going he was stating a fact (albeit based on the bids not being high enough).

In Sport and politics - if people don't ask the right question you don't have to give an answer that undermines your position.

It may well be the case that the Spaniards in the boardroom are exerting a lot more influence but it doesn't mean they have made Mancini a liar.

if i could add my 2 penneth
its not often a player is bought ,then sold by the same manager,

Just wow, he's been the manager that got us our first top division title since 1968, first FA Cup win since 1969, he's 2 major trophies away from equalling our best ever manager totals in only 2 and 1/2 seasons in charge.

FWIW I think selling Mario, especially if we don't get a replacement, will give BM a free pass for next season unless we collapse drastically in the last half of the season. He can easily point to losing a £20m striker in the last 2 days of the transfer window - especially if another striker goes down injured.

IMO the Bobby 'outers' are going to be disappointed for at least another season after this, even if we don't win anything major this season as long as we finish in the top 3. If we have another poor european performance next year I think he could be on shaky ground though in 2014 (unless we win the PL title in 2013/14 when he'll be safe again).

So, I think Mancini will probably be under review in 2014 (unless we have a complete meltdown sometime before then).
