The (real) start of the end of Roberto ?

I don't see the problem to be honest. Mancini hasn't done a few interviews in the recent past but there wasn't a problem there but now Balotelli is leaving, it's now a problem? And to those people who say Platt did the interview so Bobby missed answering questions about Mario, he didn't avoid those ones about Tevez after the Bayern incident. He did say that Carlos would never play again.

I don't think it signals anything at all - you're looking too much into it.

With every press conference recently Mancini has said that Mario was going nowhere, despite their fall outs, and rumours that they really didn't get on any more, he was still insistent about Mario going nowhere until this weekend, but now its happened, is it a sign that Soriano and Begiristain are now firmly in charge of all things transfer related ?

Mancini has also been pretty insistent that we need 4 strikers, and I do think running in 2 competitions with only 3 is a risk, so unless we bring someone, which I seriously doubt at this late stage, given other clubs know we have money to spend, and will hold it over us on any fee's with 2 days left.

Just putting it out there for discussion.

Oh, and where was Roberto yesterday, leaving Platt to take the awkward Mario questions.

(Please keep Mario (and Mourinho) comments to the other threads).

He wants to keep the price up thus he doesn't admit that City want him to go. You may have noticed that all clubs do this. Sorry to upset the Mancini haters but nothing sinister in any of this

If you can find any post of mine that says I'm a "Mancini hater" then I'll salute you.

It was a discussion point nothing more nor less, some people have bothered to make some good points.

Your argument that he/we were trying to keep the price up is valid, but its not fully convincing.

I don't think he singled you out there.

Back to the "point" you raised, no it doesn't signal the "real start of the end" for Mancini, all it is is a player leaving the club for a handsome fee. If he knew, which I suspect he did and is why Balo didn't play recently, not that he had a virus or whatever, and admitted he was going weeks ago, we would have had weeks of speculation. As it is we only had it bad the past few days, job well done all round.

As for allowing Platt to take the media, nothing wrong in that, we've seen it before and won't have seen the last of it.

We've no idea what Tricky and Ferrari have in the pipeline for the next few days (if anything!) so lets see what happens next.

Well after tonights game there will be more question marks over his tatics as in subs. We need every point we can get to take Tevez off for Rodwell is a confusing decision to make in my opinion. Looking for a goal you would think you would keep as many strikers on the pitch and go for it.

Didn't really know where to put this so i'll throw it in here. Love Mancini for what he's done so far but as we all know your only as good as your last game but for the point of my arguement i'm gonna say your only as good as your last season and although compared to times gone past coming second (if this actually happens and we don't win it again) this would have been considered a fantastic season but for some reason it does seem a little deflating considering we had our foot on United's throat last May. They went out and made seriously huge improvements whilst we didn't so when the board and management sit down and look back at this season they must access and re-evaluate the summer transfer window just gone by.

Maybe the OP's point might not be the end of Mancini but it's definetly the start of their involvement in shaping the squad for future seasons. For all we know the board may have decided that winning the title this season was going to be more difficult following on from last considering we were bringing in these new board members and reshaping. Maybe coming second and if possible picking up the FA Cup might be more beneficial in the longer run if we go on to achieve much greater success. Just a thought.

Which was I thought it a decent question to ask.

I'm far from wanting Mancini out, which is not what the thread is about. It was about his continued support for Mario even as late as Saturday, but he's seemingly gone anyway, so maybe its a decision forced on him (and maybe not), and the implications of that. I don't see why this should be a taboo subject on a City forum.

I dont think anyone would really want to see Roberto going but if the club is to grow in Europe and World football then maybe Roberto might not be the man to bring us forward in the future. He may have taken the club as far as he can do which isnt too bad.
