The rip off that is the City Store.

The OP is right, the shirts with badges and numbering are a rip-off. Yes, I hear you say, 'don't buy them then!' - I don't. If I do buy the shirts I get them when they're reduced, the exception being the first batch of Umbro shirts in 2009. But I really feel for those who want all the numbering etc - it's way, way too expensive. Besides, it isn't even the sam felt-type, 'lextra' versions that the players wear, anyway.

Is this the first time you have been in the City Store?

Have you been in any souvenir shop - ones on the way out at Chester Zoo, Alton Towers, Disneyland?

They're all full of expensive over priced tat.

If it didn't sell they wouldn't make it. Best thing about it is that you don't have to buy it. I've only ever bought anything when it's been reduced as I agree that it is too expensive for what it is.

Saying that, this is great - £2 a badge after discount.

Have a look at this and tell me if it is something you might go for if available at our ground

Would definetley go for that but would be very pricey, I believe thy are asking for planning permission to put paving stones round the ground similar to what they o at Disney World were you can have your name on.

Buy your City stuff from the cheapest possible place you can. The club gets the same amount of money on the sale. At the City stores it's all hiked up because they aren't actually City's stores, it's Kitbag (and other places?) that actually run the stores and they simply sell City stuff on City named sites.

The OP is right, it's almost all a complete rip off. But there are cheaper places to buy City stuff - like Sports Direct - and, as I say, City don't receive less money even though its cheaper.

Plus numbers and names on kits are for commentators and fans to be able to differentiate the players from a distance. Why fans feel the need to ruin their nice footy tops with names on numbers on the back escapes me totally. So a kit will never be £60+ for me.
