Also, does it really need comment? No one in their right mind would defend. But putting that to one side, your point doesn’t really stand as the PM was answering a direct question in the House of Commons and should surely be held to a higher standard than the as yet known culprits of the bridge message/threat?

Threatening life against anyone because of their political beliefs is wrong and it was wrong last year when they had “hang the Tories” with effigies going over the same bridge.

Politics is incredibly volatile and polarised at the moment, the difference is though and this needs to be pointed out, Johnson is whipping up the hatred on one side with his rhetoric.

A) I don’t think he said anything wrong here nor was it a bad interview. He’s merely saying that his support of people’s freedom of speech has a line and they have values. His group wouldn’t protect or offer advice to someone who incited violence against a minority group, for example.

B) Why’s this in a far-right thread?

The point is about respecting those you disagree with’s right to speak.

I always remember Christopher Hitchens supporting the rights of a Holocaust denier, to say what he wanted to.

I think Aaron Bastani, George Galloway, Yaxley-Lennon, Paul Golding etc. are all nutters but I don’t want any of them cancelled. Their right to speak is the same as mine.

“Defend your enemies right to speak or give it up for yourself” - that was C. Hitchens.
