The Roma match has convinced me...

As good as Denayer, Lopes and Kelechi were, I'm still most impressed by Garcia. He's 17. SEVENTEEN! And has been playing against seasoned pros and looking the part. Boy has unbelievable talent.

Completely agree with this, out of all the young lads he stood out a mile today. He looks like he could walk in to most La Liga sides. Might need a year of playing mens football before he's ready for the physicality of the PL, but in terms of technique, what an outstanding prospect.

He played as a number 8 in a 433 today and looked like we'd plucked him straight out of Barca's squad. Superb technique, movement, passing, vision, but the thing that impressed me more than angthing is that he was always demanding the ball, even in tight spaces. If David Silva and Iniesta had an apprentice, he'd look a lot like Manu Garcia.

Recalling the performances of Denis Suarez at 17, and I think Garcia is well ahead of him at this stage in his development.

Suarez isn't doing too bad for Sevilla either.

We have to realise it's only pre-season but you have to be excited by the youth in our team. I hope they get a chance this year. Two senior players stood out as poor and that was Fernando who never looks in control of the ball and Kolarov for his poor positioning, he seems to not be bothered working at this clear flaw in his game. Denayer looks like a real gem, I was impressed with his bringing the ball out of defence and his all round positioning - if he keeps that up he looks better than Vinny. Zucchini is an odd one as now we have Delph I can't see him making the squad. Think he will be sold as I don't see the value of another loan at age 22. Do agree he looks better than Fernando but then again so do you!!

He looks miles better than Fernando! I'd get rid of Fernando and have Zuculini in his place as an option for when we need a more mobile CM or for the cup games etc.

@Worst Case Ontario Ah, I forgot Garcia. Was very impressed with him and his link up play with David was fantastic at times!

After watching the last two games in aus there's excitement knowing we have such talent coupled with the disappointment that MP probably won't use them. If we don't have at least one breakthrough star this season it will be a tragedy.

Very impressed with Deneyar today, seemed far more assured that Mangala. Will be interesting to see how he holds up against Madrid.

I really enjoyed the game and thought all our youngsters played well - its really exciting to see them start to come through. For me, Denayer is definately ready for a first team birth. Its as much what he doesnt do as what he does. No lunging in, no rash tackles. Great reading of the game and very good distribution as he brings the ball forward. I say that both on his performance today and from watching him pretty frequently last season. I hope that merit wins over price tag or reputation. If it does, I can see him as a first choice selection this season. Very impressed by Garcia the last couple of games, but as I havent seen much of him will keep my powder dry on whether he is ready or not. Next season will be a breakthrough for our academy.
