The Roma match has convinced me...

Good game today goo to see a few academy players in there as well. Hope we can get some playing some games for us this season. Sterling was good gave us a great outlet with his pace and trickery

A very good work out with plenty of positives especially from the EDS players.

Positive signs but I wouldn't read too much into a pre-season friendly. The future looks bright but it's hard to make it at our level and we perhaps shouldn't expect too much of some of them yet.

What did concern me was how the referee did not give Sterling a penalty.

Are we going to see a Balotelli style approach from the referees due to the appaulling media coverage which will lead to him being kicked about and getting no decisions.

Worrying.

I'm more worried about defending them
Sorry I meant take as in 'take them seriously' both attacking and defending.

I would hazard a guess that 70% of goals scored come from set pieces or at least from the immediate result of a set piece yet we don't really care about them.

Just saw Sterling's goal properly (not some crappy vine video on my phone) due to being at work? Very tidily taken. Quick question though; as he wheeled away, did he give the "up yours" to the boo boys?

First time it didn't feel like we were playing youth in an obligatory manner.

All of them looked like potential Premier League players. Iheanacho has been destined for the first team since last season. Garcia and Denayer looked polished beyond their years.

Very encouraging.

Ah BM never changes. Meaningless pre season friendly. Hyping up of unproven young players. Slagging the usual players that only played half a match. And hating those not even playing. Sometimes I think the internet warriors do a better job than the media of stirring things up

I'm going to reserve judgement on that one. In my experience referees never like giving penalties in friendlies or testimonials.

If he starts getting denied a few blatant ones once the season starts...Then i'll be going mad in the agenda thread.

The guy is an A league standard ref. He just sucks.
