Funny to think how different your reply would be if it was the US doing this at the moment

Never had a mate blown to kingdom come because of a stupid war Russia dragged us into.

Nor have I mate but I wouldn't say its the USA's fault that our government join in

I do.

So if Russia invades the Ukraine is that us at war?
There would certainly be a case to answer from Ukraine given the fact we, the Americans and Russia signed the Budapest Memorandum recognising their sovereignty from Russia. Crimea could be argued (by some) that Russia hasn't breached that to the point of war. An invasion of Ukraine would blow all doubt out of the water.

I'd be surprised all the same if the UK and USA will do anything without the support of the bigger nations in Europe though, the USA haven't picked a fight with a country realistically big enough to draw blood since WW2 and the UK won't want the expenditure occurred in such a war. imo it all depends on what Germany and France decide to do and if it looks like those two are going to get involved as well Russia will back down fairly quickly. At the same time those two countries are over-reliant on Russia for energy atm so it's far from a sure thing.
Bottom line is all the countries I've mentioned only ever act in their own best interests.

How do you figure that out the President of the USA does not order our troops to fight, that came from one fucking man and his lies

-- 24 Mar 2014, 14:23 --

Wonder if China would jump in, despite building up a serious military they have never really looked to interested in war

@BoyBlue don't think they would they have old links with Russia from the communist days, but they do an awful lot of business with the states and I can't see them jeopardising that.
I think they'd probably try to emulate the USA's original plan from both world wars, which would be to stay nominally ' neutral' while making money in any way they could from the conflict.
