It’s a bit of a fantasy to believe that Scotland could just walk away from honouring a share of outstanding UK debt without detrimentally affecting its perception across the bond markets,

I don’t believe that is being suggested.

If you assume that Scotland receives a geographical share of North Sea Revenues, which the SNP would in the event of independence, then this element (£3.464bn) would in 2021-22 account for 4.7% of total tax revenue.

For the UK it would have been less than 0.4% of tax revenues in the same year.

I read that as them having had enough of the whole UK shitshow and if you are looking around for somewhere better to align with the country with the highest sovereign wealth fund in Europe would look a better bet
