The Scottish Politics thread

I'm on record as saying I support the SNP response to covid and think she has acted admirably during the crisis but I'm sorry chaps, you can't just dismiss her parties response to the crisis as unworthy of discussion whilst many of you pile in on other threads for remarkably similar issues and problems.
For what it’s worth, I believe her comms have been exemplary. She has treated us like adults and not shied away from hard messages whilst displaying genuine human compassion.
If I was to be critical, imo we continue to follow Westminster’s approach too closely. The patel proposed travel quarantine being the most recent example. Ffs if she had proposed it months ago, great. But now?

They are currently riding the crest of a wave of anti-tory sentiment and labour ineptness. They just keep banging the indy drum and whipping the populace up without any real plan. Sturgeon & SNP = Farage & UKIP down here. Single issue knob heads with no coherent policies but lots of popular traction.
Ok. You are either trolling or just pig ignorant. Bye bye.

Yes, it obvious mistakes were made on a UK and probably worldwide scale when all the numbers are known as far as care homes go at the start of all this, and questions will need to asked on how prepared we were.
However since lockdown which we all entered together I think Scotland, and from the little I know Wales and N.Ireland have handled it far better than England. As you know I have been inclined towards the SNP before this but been particularly impressed with how she’s stood up in the briefings every day and those I know not so inclined to supporting her, like yourself, have been equally impressed by her performance. Even if they don’t support her general politics.

She has not hid and has faced the cameras and nation and that really is to her credit.

I won't blame her for a virus that sadly has proven deadly to many because of a myriad of reasons we will see when it's over and all the facts are known.

Obviously have no idea what you are talking about, and think at least 50% of Scottish voters are idiots. You do know how long Scotland has had a SNP government ?

I don't think the occurrence of idiots within the Scottish population is significantly different from any other nation.

So explain why after 13 years running the country , education, health etc they look like winning easily again when they just whip up the population with no plan but indy drum beating. Is it because we are stupid or because on balance we think their domestic policy not independence policy has been OK, not perfect but at least adequate? And we are willing to put the independence question to one side when we vote for parliament.
