The Scottish Politics thread

Completely agree. It’s not proportionate. Someone is playing silly buggers. Even now some schools are managing 121’s with kids over zoom and ‘virtual’ classes. Some are doing nothing, it’s not consistent even within district councils.
Very true, our youngest is going back 2hrs a week. Not even a full day. Yet some schools are back for full days.

They should let the English vote if they are serious about getting independence.

How would you personally vote in that instance?
Why do you think the English (and presumably the Welsh and Northern Irish) should get a say in it?

Do you think it would return an overwhelming result if they all voted on it?

P.s. a fairly large reason for the desire for indy, is to no longer be ‘ruled’ by the English voters that overwhelmingly vote in another direction from Scotland so I can’t see something like this being popular.

I don't blame Scotland for having a surge in a preference of Independence to be honest.

My concern is will they be a one party state if they do?

Labour 2.0 seems happy to continue the no fucks given for the Scottish support. And the Tories are properly fucked.

I seem to recall similar polling last time showed that if the English had been allowed a vote then Independence would have won.

Quite possibly but I’d expect that the rUK weren’t paying particularly close attention to the debates so would be polling from a place of ignorance.

That is a guess of course but I’d expect people would take a lot more interest if they were asked to vote.

Possibly, but it may also be born of a genuine wish for Scottish independence in England - it was the Scots that voted against it iirc.

I don’t think it would become a one party state.

Firstly, like UKIP, the SNP’s aim is for an iScotland.
So I wonder if they would disband if it was delivered.

I know many people that say they would not vote yellow in an indy Scotland but continue to vote that way to ensure the message is clear.

I’ve had a discussion with someone on here before who votes, or has voted, SNP but does not want an indy scotland - which I must admit amazed me. I know no one that votes SNP that would vote no.

Anyway, I don’t think it would become a one party state.
I expect labour -or a similar incarnation- would be supported.
